What got you into Animal Crossing?

My son was 14 when the game cube version came out. He wanted me to play, but I thought it looked stupid. He finally had me sit down, and started up a character for me. It didn't take too long, and I was hooked. It was so much fun playing together. I would watch him play, then it would be my turn. I miss those days.

well so lets go story tiiiime

so every christmas, we have all the relatives on my moms side come over to our house (well, it just happened to be our house at the time, we usually switch off) and my cousin david brought over a ton of gamecube games. it was the same old things but then he had a new game and whaaaaaat????>>>>>//>? it was animal crossing!11! and our cousin was moving to korea so we had pushed it back like a week? so it wasnt actually christmas lol and when they left i immediately screamed to my mom MUM I WANT ANIMAL CROSSING and wooooo she ended up getting it for me and its been my favourite game series every since, the obsession never died, here i am playing new leaf while looking at animal crossing videos on my ipad and looking on forums on my laptop

[sub]my friends were all playing acnl at the time i got it (2014) and i thought getting the game would be a good way to bond and spend time with my friends. and it still is! my friends and i are building our towns up to this day :D the game is still a lot of fun and i love it a lot.[/sub]

My brothers got me into the series back when I was a kid (around the time the gamecube version was out) and I couldn't stop playing. It got so bad that I began to hear AC sfx during school haha... Thankfully, it died down. I still adore the games; I'm just not as addicted to them as I was in the past

I think I saw something like an ad on tv :o I asked if I could get it for christmas and lo and behold I got it! SO it is kind of weird but the first time I made a town I did it on christmas. :D Though I did keep that town for years I started over a few days ago. Ah, memories. :lemon:

The person who owns the store where my husband and I used to buy gamecube games, suggested the game so we bought the it and we really liked it. Since then, we have been playing the Animal Crossing series. We skipped City Folk though, because we never owned a Wii.

It was Chuggaaconroy's Let's Play that got me into Animal Crossing in the first place. I used to watch the guy's stuff back when he wasn't really cringeworthy, and I really wanted to find out what the fuss is all about with New Leaf. I loved watching his LP and seeing all of the cute animals, but it took me over a year to finally get the game itself.

You don't like Emile anymore!?

Anyways, onto what got me into the games. To be honest, I don't remember.

JEEZ, how old are you!?

On my ninth birthday I had a big sleepover with like 4 of my friends, and two of them brought their DS's with Wild World. I already had a DS, so one of them let me make a file on their copy and I loved it so much that the next day I went to GameStop and bought my own copy with my birthday money. Because I started playing it in the summer, I always associate summer with Animal Crossing and it's my favorite season in game.

I went into gamestop one day and was browsing around the ds section and wild world caught my eye. The box art looked really cute and different compared to the other games I was playing at the time so I decided to give it a chance and I've been hooked ever since.

So, I have a hell of a story when it comes to this one...

Yeah, it's a long one, so get out some popcorn and some soda, because this is gonna be a long ride.

During my senior year of high school, I met a nice person who recently moved to my school. I helped her adjust to the school and became her friend not soon after. She sometimes brought a 3DS along in which she played something with the look of utmost concentration. Now, I was foolish at the time and thought she was playing something extremely skill-driven like Smash or some sort of rhythm game, but to my surprise, it was animal crossing. At that point, I just laughed and asked her why she played such a childish game. Animal Crossing? PFFFFT... Kid's game. She seemed offended and started explaining how you had to pick fruit, find seashells, and plant flowers... Being the testosterone driven teen I was, I scoffed at the notion and continued to make fun of her...

Senior year eventually came to an end, and I graduated.

I was planning to take a gap year and study a bit because of some health issues.

I got my hands on a 3DS and got a copy of smash to go along with it.

One day, I was browsing the Nintendo store when I ran into "Animal Crossing: New Leaf". I realized that this was the game my friend was playing way back and I decided to give it a shot. Then all of this happened. ALL OF THIS HAPPENED.

HELP ME.

i used to play city folk when i was younger, but then i just stopped playing on my wii so i forgot about it for years

but then i started seeing these cool acnl posts on instagram and thought, why not? i don't have a 3DS but it's almost christmas so i can ask for one and acnl, so i did, and i got it! i'm hooked now, haha

My mom's ex boyfriend had the original for gamecube, and when he left the picture, we kept it.

My older brother picked up Population: Growing one day and it was love at first sight. I remember him telling me all sorts of BS like how the fossils were useless so he could sell them all himself. :p The only AC game I haven't played was Wild World because I didn't own a DS at the time.

I started to play because for me it takes stress away. You can create any town you want so for me I created a woodland theme, peaceful and relaxing.

Gamestop.

My parents went up to someone and asked what games are good for 7 year olds. I ended up getting City Folk. Then back in 2013 I say ACNL ads and this was me: :o I NEED that!

The Peanut Butter Gamer. Or PBG. He made a video with ACNL and i picked it up with my mom when i got it with my 3DS and the rest is history. I lost my copy though...

I had wild world when I was younger and was super into it. Then I got City Folk but I didn't click with it so I abandoned it lol. When ACNL first came out, I thought it was going to suck, so I waited a year or two after release before deciding to actually try it for myself, and so the addiction started.. >_<

my sister used to play WW and i'd watch her, always commentating on things like a kid would. i think i tried playing it myself but i ended up deleting her town and she got mad so i was too scared to play until later (though i played on my brother's WW). i was really into it and here i am

I always wanted the games as a kid but I never got them so I didn't get into Animal Crossing till I was older. My boyfriend tried to get me to buy new leaf when it came out but I said I wasn't interested... until he was playing it and I saw how cute it was. I have been in love ever since.
