What exactly is Tomodachi Life?

Don't shun me.
When I saw the commercials I thought it looked so incredibly stupid.
My thought was, "the seriously took Miis and made it into a game?"
I thought it was a child's game?

Can someone explain what exactly you do, what's the point, what's so fun about it!?

I've seen lots of people here on tbt saying they love it. So I want to know if I should buy it, or save my money for another game?

If you get it, get it on sale. While the game is a great way to past the time, it's very repetitive and not very interactive. Essentially you just babysit a bunch of Miis and wait for drama to unfold amongst them. Fun to watch, but it takes forever and I'm not sure if it was worth the $40.

If you ever had a Tamagotchi, it's kinda like that but with Miis. You can interact with them a bit by feeding them and changing their clothes etc, but other than that you mostly just watch them. They can get married and have kids and hang out at different places around the island they live on. Many people find it fun for a while but get bored of it quickly. If you're considering buying it I'd suggest waiting until the price drops or getting it used, it isn't worth its current price imo.

This is what I thought it was when I first saw it.
I was shocked to find it was 40, here in New Zealand its 80. It's ridiculous. Yes and I own it, got it for 60.

Glad I asked here before buying it.
I'll probably end up getting another copy of ACNL or one of the Zelda games.

Agreed. It got very boring really quickly. And not having full control of the mii's is lame

Really the only fun thing to do is make songs

Buy a zelda game. You won't regret it
