I love if there's like 1 pond. I can't stand ponds, I'm sorry.

I love if the river...hugs? the land, like it's in a u.
I love if there's a place where I could like, plot reset my villagers into a line.
I love it if there's a huge beach, and a secret beach for hybrids and stuff.
I love if there's not many rocks, of course.
I love if there's space to decorate things. Like Re-Tail, and the town hall!
I love if there's a great place to plot my house, of course.

How about you?

-I really like peaches
-I like an isolated area to place my house
-I prefer if the waterfall ends in the south (my town's ends in the west)
-I like circle grass
-I like large open areas without many buildings
-I don't like the river to take up too much space in the map
-I like Retail to be near the dock so I can sell bugs quickly

I'm sure there's more I can't think of right now. :)

  • One pond, because ponds are obnoxious!
  • Vast amount of unused space for projects and house planning.
  • Having a short river that ends south.
  • Circle grass, cherry trees, and default green roofs are a plus!
  • Town Hall, Plaza, and Re-Tail being neatly aligned at the top right or left.

I'm extremely picky and going through resetting my town for the 3rd time.
I found a town like this and my 3DS died before saving. ; ;
It's been a whole month of resetting again because of my high expectations. D:

-Peaches
-Circle grass
-Town plaza in middle of town
-Town hall near town plaza
-Retail in top half of town. I like everything closer together.

* U-shaped layout
* One or two ponds. I don't like having too many
* Re-tail and Town Plaza on the north part of town
* Event plaza on the middle (I got lucky)
* Not too meticulous about villager's houses as long as they don't get in the way of main paths.

I have a newly developing town, which has replaced my below-Signature-listed Progress, which I have not yet submitted for Dream Address. It's coming along. And I find that my selection of the town map was fortunate; or fortunate enough. It did take numerous resets.

My own personal criteria was this:

1. Native fruit had to be cherries. (I didn't want the peaches I had with Progress. And I don't care for pears. Oranges are native in Applewin. And, before realizing I'm ready to dump my third town Temps, I did not consider apples.)
2. There had to be enough room in the southern part of town so human houses can be placed right next to each other (going from left to right; or west to east, if you will).
3. No. 2 meant having the Plaza and the Town Hall on the northern side of town.
4. The town has to be user-friendly in spite of all immovable rocks.
5. Starting villagers could not be given emphasis. (I have at least one extra game cartridge for cycling.)
6. Because I'm reducing myself to having just two actively played towns, and my first one [Applewin] is most often played by me, the beach for this newly developing town needed to face the west (along with southwest and south). This is opposite my original town. It further helps sustain my interest.
7. Flow of the town's river needed to end in direction of the south.
8. Town needed curves (like a "U"-shape) that would allow me to place angled bridges (traveling northwest/southeast as well as northeast/southwest) for added interest.
9. Before committing to the town, I had to explore it for a few days (real time) to be really certain it was right for what I have in mind.
10. I cannot submit this town for an established Dream Address until it's good and ready.

  • I love the U shaped layout because I love how it dips and I can seperate my town into areas.
  • ReTail on lower/middle half of town.
  • Apples!! Apples are my favourite fruit :>
  • <2 Ponds. It's tough to layout if there are 5 ponds or something obstructing everything.
  • Good places to plot my humans in. I.e. 3 humans in a row.

my main towns map is essentially the opposite of what i want..;_; i was so stupid when i made my original town and now i feel..trapped with it almost because of my nearly completed museum/catalog, complete main street and 3 complete homes BUT..i digress.

either way..traits for a good map are:
apples (perfect apples look the nicest imo, generally nice looking fruit)
triangle grass
either u shaped river with tree in the center -
or a small river off on either the east or west - with a south facing waterfall.

Rocks in reasonable locations (not in the way).
Apples.
Long, undivided beach for fishing.
Big areas of open space with no buildings.
Not too much wasted space in narrow areas between the river and the train tracks, if possible.
Extra nice: possibility for a long, straight north/south path from the dock to the mall. Buildings/houses/ponds/rocks not in the way of that path.
Train station that is not brown.
Re-Tail near the dock.
Beginning animals that I like, or at least none that I detest.

Most important of all: Just seems "right" to me, somehow, when I try to imagine living there.

Oddly, the grass shape doesn't matter to me at all, I don't care if the beach is on the right or on the left, and I don't value a private beach at all.

Blue train station
Large map
Oranges or peaches for town fruit wouldn't mind Apple either
Minimal lakes
River is not in the way of anything
Beach facing right
Rocks in adequate places

As many blue structures as possible
lots of good reas for bridges. I may have to move some sometimes so better be certain
a straight line from shore to main street
star grass if i can get it
at least one good villager to start with
lots of space around retail so i can line up the police station, cafe and retail

I love it when there is a little "secret beach" place. I'm lucky enough to have one in my town. Also, the placement of the river is really important. I hate it when it's too close to the edge of the town.

Cherries are a must for the fruit for me. I love how the perfect cherries look ^-^
Circle grass because of stars in the snow (yes, call me childish, I wanted the pretty stars darn you ;-; )
I prefer the plaza tucked away in a corner somewhere
The smaller and simpler the river, the better. I don't like the ones that practically scribble all over the map.
Retail near the train station for convenience for visitors
Town hall either near the plaza or near the train station
South facing waterfalls are pretty (sadly I didn't get this one on my map)
The fewer the ponds the better. My current map only has one, yay!

I only had 2 requirements for picking out my town: A retail as close to the middle of town as possible and not a lot of ponds. And I got it on the first try. :) I also like that my town tree is at the edge of town. I also really like islands although I don't have one.

My second town map is perfect imo. It's shaped similarly to my main town, but it fixed all the flaws I saw with my main. It's roomy, and big and symmetrical and it makes me happy, and that's basically it for me. As far as ponds I don't really care. I think my main has like 4-5 but my second town only has 1. I do like the front facing ledge to the beach though and I like access to my whole beach. I don't like the little hidden island you have to swim to. I want full access which I have on both towns. I kind of wanted my plaza to be in the middle and not up against a wall cause it's like that in my main. I also like for rocks to not be in inconvenient locations for putting paths. My second town really just makes me very happy. Here's a picture of the map(this was from when I just started):

1) Apples or Peaches
2) Town Hall or Re-tail not right in front of each other or in front of the plaza.
3) Prefer to have Plaza in front of Town Hall
4) Relatively straight river so there is lots of space
5) South facing waterfall
6) No more than 2 ponds (or three if it is in a corner)
7) If Re-tail is by the train station, no pond in between them.
