personally, im a boy and i prefer running around in dresses in the game (im still too scared to get to the online island because im afraid of people judging me about it on the island, still trying to get over this so i can enjoy myself on the island) despite the fact that i dont crossdress in real life.
"cross" haircuts included in discussion too.

I think it's great. People should be able to wear whatever they want in AC and IRL in my opinion. As long as they are decent of course.

I have 8 characters in all and at least 2 are male. They all wear whatever clothes I choose, ditto with hair. Names, too now that I think on it. I have a girl named Fred and a boy named Mildred. They only time I ever notice their nominal gender is when NPCs or villagers talk to them and change the dialogue - and then it's just irritating that such an open game is so inexplicably limited in regards to gender.

Eh. I'm female and have no issues personally with my gender expression and sexual orientation, but so many people have issues with either or both of those things, and it's weird to me that so many people seem to care who wears what, who does what, who is attracted to whom..

In a game like Animal Crossing, surely gender should be largely irrelevant? Boys and girls can wear the same clothes, even if Mable is forever shocked when my boys want to try on and then buy dresses. That's a quaint little detail that irks me until I remember it's a game lol!

I don't spend much time in the online island personally, but I don't think I've ever stopped to figure out if my character is wearing stereotypically acceptable clothing at any point.. what an odd (to me) thing to worry about. I think if anyone playing online really expects a random player to be male if char is male, or female if char is female - then they are either a) 7 years old or younger, b) extraordinarily sheltered and this is their first time on the internet, c) ****wit, or d) some combination of the above.

Wear what you want ingame. If anyone cares, ask them why. I'd be surprised if many even noticed actually. But if they do, and they care - that's on them. You do you.

Same goes for real life. Obviously sometimes some things to consider first there, but yikes it's 2016. My parents might be momentarily flustered to see a man wearing a puffy pink dress.. but that's only momentary and they move right along. As lng as all relevent bits are coveed, who cares what you wear?*

*thi is a rhetorical question. I'm aware some people do care, but as they are usually religious extremists or otherwise generally intolerant... my personal care factor for what they think of the choices other people make is precisely zero.

why would it be a problem lmao. it's a great thing! Lippysue said it all. wear whatever ya like!
(also I rlly like your signature, Steven universe is such an adorable show!)

I think it's chill. Gives people ways to express themselves in their characters, and that's what makes it great.
I'm female, and hate dresses, but my character is always in pink frilly dresses. It gives it a different side. So I think cross dressing is great.

eh i don't care? i wear whatever i think fits tbh and my male characters wear dresses too lmao. i personally rly dislike words like "cross dressing" because of many reasons but uhhh yyeah idc

my male mayor is always wearing the shirtdress and it's kinda annoying when 12 yr olds on club tortimer ask why i'm a boy and wear a dress lmao but it's no big deal. i always just put my characters in clothes and hairstyles that fit them hahh

Not a problem at all. Providing you don't just dress your character up in things that don't match ;) as far as cross dressing goes, it really should not be an issue in game or anywhere else. Can see why you would be concerned about going to the island like that, it tends to be a lot of young kids who play on there. Not Exactly mature enough to have any idea what they're talking about....

i don't care what people wear in the game tbh, as long as it isn't something innapropriate (you know, like a t-shirt with a **** on it or something like that) because there are kids who play the game and stuff.

I think it's great, having boys in pants and girls in dresses 24/7 is just silly.

Also, I don't honestly think of it as crossdressing, if a guy wants to wear a dress, he's still a guy (and by guy I mean someone who identifies as a guy regardless of whether he was assigned male or female or intersex at birth, not someone who was assigned male at birth even if they do not identify as a guy, just for clarification). I don't think you can really "dress up as another gender", just your own gender in different clothes, y'know? Like clothes don't suddenly change your gender.

I think that it's fine; I like how that was added in the game because it makes it feel like there aren't any limits.

I'm fine with it. There are people who do think that it's stupid, but don't let it stop you from letting your male player play dresses. What matters more is how nice it is that Nintendo made it an option in the first place.

I'm glad that the game added gender-neutral stuff like that. I think if it makes you happy, you should be able to wear what you want! ♥

I honestly don't care.

It's none of my business how people dress. People should wear whatever makes them happy.

When I trade with someone in the game, I care about their personality and how they behave towards me and my town, not what their character looks like.
