What are your thoughts on waterfalls?

The extravagant waterfalls and such look really cool, but idk about the ones that are just waterfalls on either side - cool but not my thing. I really like the areas that are meant to be super surreal and magical looking with patches of flowers and such that have a bunch of waterfalls. So, i generally prefer the more artsy stuff, but i can appreciate a simple waterfall accent. Honestly, do what you like. Anything looks good that you think looks good!

Eh I don't really mind it. I noticed it was starting to become really overused so I opted out of it, but in general things get popular because people like them. I don't particularly care how cliche aspects of people's island may be because at the end of the day we're just doing what makes us happy, right?

Oh don't get me wrong, do whatever makes you happy I don't have a problem with people enjoying their sweet falls! I meant it more in a "I'm sad I haven't seen some other neat waterfall idea become popular due to the limited options"

I love the waterfalls!
Right now I have like 17 of them, in 3 clusters.

But as since my island is sort based around waterfalls, I am planning to have waterfalls used someway at the entrance. Not sure how exactly yet.

I'm a pretty logical person so all the waterfalls in my town stem from my main river running through my island. I created one "main" waterfall which is quite large (but natural looking) in the top left corner, then I have 3 other waterfalls that start from ponds on cliffs and pour into the river. I am guilty of having one smaller waterfall that "doesn't make sense" and is simply for looks, but like I said, everything else is very natural looking.

I admire those who do have those crazy areas enclosed with waterfalls, or waterfall cliffs surrounding the airport, but I personally could never do that because the fact that all those waterfalls came out of nowhere or ended in nowhere, would really bother me. Idk im really weird lol so on my island I'm sticking with more natural landscaping!

I personally love how it looks - I have the double waterfalls leading to the "secret" north beach, but not for my entrance. It's super loud, but I like it. I feel like the things we could do with water could be added to - we could have different types of water, maybe change the overall color of the water, or put blossoms or other cool looking things in the water, permanently.

I like the waterfalls, but I dislike when they look unnatural. Like, when they start from nothing, and there is no pool on top of the cliff and where the water falls, it just looks so manmade. I try to make them look like they were supposed to be there. I looked at how my pre-established waterfalls had a pool on top of the cliff, and I waterscape with that in mind. I have a main waterfall that starts from the third cliff, falls down from the second cliff, and then the river splits into two leading out to the river outlets. Then I have a separate double-tier waterfall that came with my island. I waterscaped it only a little bit to reduce the size of the pool where the water fell. Now I'm making a whole new river that has two more waterfalls haha.

PS: Remember how exciting it was to get a rare east or west facing waterfall in the previous titles? (AC GCN or ACCF)

I can appreciate a decent waterfall, but I'm not the hugest fan of the 2 sided waterfall lane. I don't know, they just look a little strange to me.

Overdone, of course. Some of them look pretty nice. I probably won't make use of them when my island is completely finished.

I have two waterfalls and both are located on the highest points of the island. I've placed them on spots where it makes sense to have them. But to each their own. Every person knows what they like best, and I feel like, what works for me may not work for others, and vice versa.

i like 'em but don't personally have too many in my town. yeah, they're used a lot. but i think there's a reason for every trend, you know?

plus am i the only person who's really concerned with how my map looks on the actual map? i feel like sometimes intricate work with water and cliffs makes the actual map look a bit... off. and that makes me just not want anything on that scale
