What are your thoughts on Rodney?

I always read mix opinions on this guy? People seems to love it and the same time hate it.

I personally think he's one of the best hamsters. The expression on his face is awesome! He looks so chill.

I think he's funky and there is quite a bit of character packed into his design! He works as a smug villager but he also could've worked as a lazy villager.

There's this weirdness about Rodney that makes him appealing to me.He's a teal hamster with a tuft of hot pink hair and he's a smug on top of that.He popped up in one of my old New Leaf cycling towns and I moved him to my regular town instead of the villager I was originally trying to get.

I think Rodney is great. But then again, I am one of the people who also love Beardo.
But if Rodney was any other personality I don't think I would like him as much. Smug fits him well.
They are both blue, so maybe there is a trend there..

I feel like he's way over-hated in some circles; I get some of the criticism and do understand how his design + the smug personality can be off putting for some (like Graham), but I feel like it gets to a point that people are just kinda an echo chamber cause it's "acceptable" to dislike him

He's not for me personally, but I think his house is neat, and can definitely see how the smug personality and his appearance can give off a "cool chill dude" vibe

I thought it was more because he was that one character that became a running gag to hate on. Personally, I like him! I currently have him on my HHP restaurant as the chef.

i’m pretty neutral about him. he’s not a favourite villager of mine, and there’s other smug and hamster villagers that i like more, but he’s not bad! his teal body with his tuft of hot pink hair is a nice, vibrant colour combo, and his goofy little teeth are cute lol. his design looks more lazy or even jock to me than smug, though. i also get him mixed up with rooney sometimes (not appearance-wise obviously haha, but name-wise ).

For some reason I'm not very keen on hamster villagers and Rodney is no exception lol. Idk why though, I get why so many people like him but for some reason he doesn't click with me

I liked Rodney a lot when he was on my island. His cute design goes well with the smug dialogue.

The hamster villagers are my favorite species, and I absolutely adore Rodney!

He’s probably my second favorite villager - after Tabby of course - and he is my very favorite smug by a lot (Graham is my second favorite smug and also super cute).

I think he perfectly captures the spirit of the smug personality.

Basically, I just think he’s the best. I even own a plushie of him. We used to have a
Rodney appreciation thread going at one point. In the wider animal crossing community he is really disliked (or at least was the popular villager to hate at one point).

I like Rodney, but I’d never have him on my island. I tend to have strictly dog islands with a few exceptions, like adding a wolf or two. Rodney has a cool color scheme.

I don’t hate him, but my least favorite villager designs are the ones that look more human (Rodney, Monique, Tiffany, etc.) so I’m not a huge fan.

I like that somebody loves him though! I feel like this game isn’t as fun if you love EVERY villager, or conversely if you only like a select few Instagram-worthy animals.

I love him lol, he was one of my very first hamster villagers in New Leaf and he instantly became a favorite of mine along with Soleil.

I've never had Rodney before on new leaf or new horizons, but I think he looks kinda cute with his freckles and buck teeth and wouldn't mind having him visit my island in new horizons or town in new leaf

He seems more like a Lazy than a Smug.

Other than that…I like him. I don’t have a disdain for a villager who does not look like a beauty. I like a mix.
