what are your thoughts on NH’s home expansion?

I hate it tbh. I don't like the rectangular rooms much and the side rooms are too small. You also can't choose what rooms you want, what if I only wanted the back room? The three entrances make the main room harder to decorate, I wanted to have a living room like how I did in NL but now it's incredibly cramped with the side room entrances. I can't go back to one room now without restarting as well which is unfortunate but I can live with it.

I personally love what they did with the top floor and basement, turning them into rectangles instead of squares really helps me maximize my space, and let's me make cute little divided areas in those rooms. The main room is fine for me because it's like the main room from NL, and I just turn it into my living room, so it's easy to accomidate.

The one thing I wish they hadn't done was leave my three extra rooms small. I really need them to be bigger, or at least one of them to be bigger for my kitchen because I have too many kitchen things and not enough room in my house for them! I would like a bigger bathroom too, but that's a more minor complaint as there's not as many bathroom pieces I like.

I think they could have given us bigger rooms like in NL and the rectangle rooms too, but it is what it is. I will get used to them. haha.

Honestly I miss the bigger rooms. In animal Crossing New Leaf, I worked really hard to fill those huge empty roons with alot of nice themed decorations. It was like a goal. I actually did it in animal crossing new leaf and I loved how I decorated all of those rooms in the end.

when we got animal crossing happy home designer I figured they would add all the new furniture to the next installment of the game and it made me excited to fill those big empty rooms again.

So when I got the fully expanded homes in New Horizons it kinda disappointed me :/ limited my creativity a little bit. But whatever I’ll work with it i guess!

i hope they add the full size rooms as an update soon 🥺

Yeah I really hope we get some room expansion options in a future update, for a game that puts such an emphasis on trying to give the player enough customization and control over your island to get everything just the way you want it, it's kinda strange they don't really give you much to work with when it comes to your house lol.

I think you actually had a lot more freedom with it in previous games if I'm remembering correctly, since you could choose the specific rooms you wanted to add and whether or not you wanted to expand them, which just makes the whole upgrade system in this game feel less like a new take on house upgrades and more like a step backwards for some reason :/

Butttt I mean it's not like I've finished decorating most of my house anyways, so maybe I shouldn't complain lol. I just think it's a weird move honestly if nothing else :0

I haven’t expanded......I’m working on the island before I work on my homes.......that being said, I hate that we can’t customize the house exterior without expanding, when it was possible in new leaf. I really hate this.

Yeah I found a way to make main room work, I'm actually not even that upset about the tiny room.
I just NEED more storage space! Stopping at 1800 is also such an odd number... I hope it means there will be more coming soon

i would definitely like it if the three side rooms could be expanded to the same size as the main room, or maybe for the main room to be a bit bigger and the side rooms at the same size the main room is now. the three door ways make it hard to effectively decorate (not crazy hard, but still), so why should the three rooms with only one doorway be so small?

Probably an unpopular opinion but I don't mind the smaller rooms. o: For a long time in New Leaf I'd put off expanding certain rooms because they honestly just felt needlessly big. The ideas that I have for those rooms don't need that much space anyway.

i don’t love it. i miss the 8x8 rooms but don’t see them being added so i suppose i’ll have to make do lol

I really want bigger rooms, but it's forced me to be a lot more creative with my space.

Its not what I expected, but I hope they add more expansions and architecture styles in the future.

Rooms should be bigger to accomodate all the new stuff you can decorate with, but I guess smaller rooms makes it a challenge that I'm all for

i wish we could change room dimensions- i wouldn't even mind if they cost another loan! i just really like small rooms for a cozier vibe
i also would have liked it if we could have chosen which rooms we wanted in the first place- would have been nice to just have a main room, and upstairs, and basement (or just a main room + back room, etc.)- instead of having to unlock them all in a certain order

5 tiles wide makes my head hurt. I can't line it up with an incline or bridge. 4 or 6 would have been perfect, but not 5
