I know that certain public work projects aren't a villager favorite and can decrease your perfect town status... do you know which ones are the best and which ones make your town a better place?
Things like the flower clock I think is liked by villagers but you need a perfect town in order to get it. Anything green like the solar panel helps IIRC. It's best just to avoid lots of illuminated things like the big screen TV and things like the trash can and oil rig.
People say the picnic blanket decreases the town rating but I have one and have never lost my perfect town rating.
Not sure how accurate it is, but this tumblr has some information. It is a year old, though.
However, I'm pretty sure you can achieve a 'perfect' town rating regardless of which PWPs you build. Having undesirable/unsightly ones just means you have to counteract them with more positive effects (trees, flowers, etc).
Don't build the trash can, solar panels, wind turbine, illuminated things, TV screen and that should do pretty welll. The wisteria trellis is reallyyyy good for points too!
My personal favorite pwps are the lighthouse and the tower (both of which I have), but I also love a lot of the smaller ones that I don't have :C I want a picnic blanket and the log really bad...I wouldn't mind one of the chairs or the hammock either, because those are cute and small and could probably fit into the areas near my campsite.
