Edit: OBVIOUSLY I meant acnl in the title but I got auto-corrected and didn't notice
Obviously there are sooooo many features to this game and everyone plays it differently.
What are some things that you see everyone else doing, but you never do yourself?
For example - I never bother making hybrids properly. I just plant the same breeds together and if a hybrid pops up it's a bonus!
I also don't really bother with customising my villagers houses/clothing, I just let them get on with it.
And a biggy (it would seem) - I have never plot resetted! Mostly because I didn't know it was a thing until recently aha.
Visiting people to play the island tours with them, after grinding them for the gold badge it's just kinda hard to find them fun anymore. I basically did them all at once so that might be why.
I don't really do much with the island, I only rarely go there to get money sometimes. I just find it boring and monotonous and the prizes for winning the games takes soo long to save up for the good island stuff (mermaid things and multiples of bushes etc).
What an interesting thread!! For me, I’ve never bothered with decorating my town, and making it all pretty for a dream address (until now), aha;;... Because I just loved talking and being friends wth my villagers, that’s always been the most important thing to me in AC, above all else.. so I’ve never thought about it. But, seeing all these amazing towns of everyone’s has inspired me to try having one, too!
I never wanted to decorate my town until I saw so many really great towns too. Also, everyone always does a theme for their town, so now I'm doing one too. Plus, I can't say I really have good decorating sense for my house, but lots of other people do it so well. So, now I'm gonna decorate my town and house all pretty. Just need to find the stuff to put in my house and unlock as many public works projects as I can. Need to do lots of hybrid breeding too. Gosh, I sound busy, don't I? XD
I guess for me it would be turnips. I've only bought turnips once and I got the minimum amount only to let them spoil so I could catch ants and flies. Part of it is that I'm almost never up early enough on a Sunday to catch Joan, part of it is that I don't have room to store turnips because I'm a hoarder, and finally I just don't like the idea of taking chances with my money while I'm trying to save up for the gold savings badge. I guess I'll have to start buying them eventually because I'd like to get that badge, too, but I've been putting it off.
I also don't do much online play. I'm not a fan of interacting with strangers and prefer to keep to myself. Animal Crossing is my haven from the real world and people so I only trade when necessary, keep the trades short and sweet, and only went island hopping on the online island once to get an item I really wanted. Since my husband started playing, we do meet up occasionally, but it's usually for a purpose and we don't really go on tours or do any of the other stuff people do when they play together.
I would love to do online playing; do a big giveaway for my WA stuff, play on the island with other people, help other people get items, ect...
HOWEVER all my WiFi for the game comes from my phone, and I have had SO many issues with connecting -or lack of I should say- that I don't bother anymore. I don't have at home WiFi so no trades or services for/from me
Using paths. I do understand players who using those if they have a specific theme or if they want
to prevent that others running through their flowers and I also see town layouts where using paths
works pretty good. I, however, never really needed paths. I don't have flowers everywhere in my
town and it's kinda difficult anyway to use paths with the town layout I have. I tried it once a
long time ago to use paths, but it didn't look so good so I removed them later.
What I also don't do is buying and selling turnips. Back then when NL just came out, I tried the
whole turnip thing. However, at the end, they were all rotted, as I forgot them to sell them at
the right time. To be honest, I kinda misunderstood also the whole concept of turnips. Now I
don't really care for them.
I also don't use Tortimer Island. Not only because of those horror stories others talked about it,
but also because I prefer to be on my own island, especially if I want to catch bugs and fishes.
I have also no need to go there anyway.
1. Turnips. I?ve never bought turnips to sell later. The only time I?ve ever bought turnips was very early on in the game and that was to catch the ant and fly by letting them go rotten!
2. Plot Resetting. I didn?t know about it for so long and I did it for a little while but now I just can?t be bothered.
3. Online play. I don?t really have many friends that play as well, but even if I did, I just enjoy the game more on my own as a way of escaping from everything.
4. Designing Clothes. I?m just not very good at it. Period.
5. Themed Towns. My town has no theme. I just put down paths to connect everything up and then added pwp where they look nice.
I have never bought turnips to sell mostly because I always forget to buy them but eventually I'm going to try to remember to buy them because I would like to try to get the badge but I have other badges to get right now so the turnip badge will probably be one of the last badges I try to get. I don't really customize my villagers houses. If they ask me for furniture, I just give them whatever I have in my pocket.
I never bothered with turnips. I don?t go out of my way to catch seasonal bugs and fish, that?s why my exhibits are so sad. I also don?t bother with catching fish or bugs for villagers. I?ll only get them furniture when they ask.
I've never really played with the "stalk market"......turnips and such.Don't have any patience for it I suppose.I've never played with other people in my town or theirs.Playing with others would be more appealing if Nintendo included some kind of actual multi-player mode.Curently it seems like you can only do the same stuff you do by yourself but with more people.
I haven't really bothered with the stalk market either. I get a plenty of bells by other means and I'm quite content with that.
Another thing that I don't feel like doing is plot resetting. Sure the results would be really pleasant, but at the same time it seems so time-consuming and tedious that I don't feel like doing it at all.
Yeah I know about some hybrid stuff and I always try get them as for roses, others are a bonus unless someone would offer me it already.
As for clothes I wrap up a few because I can't stand the default ones on the mannequins because they give me bad shivers, so yeah. But yea as for making like a real life replica no.
Turnips, yeah I def. never try for gold badge. Sometimes I might buy if I remember but then I'm too lazy to look for other profitable towns so it's like, yeah boi lol.
Themed towns.. well I do try to put some pwps that could be in a hippie town and such, otherwise I just slap em up so villagers don't plot there and to fill up the req's for perfect town.
And yeah I hate island tours so I always decline that.

Ngl I thought this thread was misplaced before I read it was autocorrect lmao. Sorry not sorry.
Also yeah I'm very lazy with Gulliver unless I notice him randomly or some villager tells me he's there. But it's like maybe 2-3 things I actually like from him, so yeah.
I forgot a couple of other things I don't really bother with:
Katrina-I've never built her shop in any of my towns.I've worn the stuff she told me to but I didn't really notice any improvement in luck. The fortune telling sequence is cool to watch, though.
Dr.Shrunk's "jokes"-I like the emoticons Shrunk teaches but I rarely ever visit Club Lol.I sometimes forget it's even there on my Main Street. It's funny when I trade villagers with other players and they're all happy doing their emoticons and my mayor is stony-faced because he or she doesn't even have any emoticons.
Nunnafinga
Oh wow, I totally forgot about those two.
I feel it's even sadder for Shrunk since after you learn all the emotes, he virtually has no purpose?
