In your personal opinion, what are good reasons to restart a town?

I see a lot of people restarting towns and it's making me wonder if I should do the same. There are rocks in places that cut through my roads and it's bothering me and the town hall/re-tail could be a little better placed. My actual map layout is good, but I could always get it again in another restart....so I was thinking of turning here to see if it would be worth it. I have almost all my dream villagers though and I don't know if this would be a good reason to actually restart my entire town.

Because you want to and not because everyone else does is my only reason xD

The only reason I have ever reset was because I hated my layout. I deal with the rocks, but everything else needs to be acceptable for me.

Lol, I only reset because my town name was terrible. My previous town layout was actually a lot better than the one I have now.

I restarted when I decided I wanted a new town theme.

This too actually.

I reset my old town because things that couldn't be changed, like the map and some PWP placements, were beginning to bother me. I don't worry about losing villagers or items much cause you can always get them back, the only bad thing about resetting to me is waiting for all the shops to open back up. I'm glad I reset cause I found a map I'm much happier with and starting over made me interested in the game again, but of course it's personal preference.

I'm thinking about resetting my first town, Sunset... I'm planning to slowly move some of villagers to my other town and transfer items so I can reset later.. So make 2nd town my main town.

When I first started I was so new that I didn't know I could choose different maps xD so now Retail's pretty far off and so are Plaza and Town Hall. There's ton of little ponds everywhere. I also put a campsite in a horrible spot (didn't care about placements at the time and it's not demolish-able; haha i made up a word).. I couldn't reset cuz I put so much time into it, but I've been putting enough effort to make my second town into my main town.. and maybe reset. Start as a cycling town? hmm idk >.< ..

I'm just wondering if I should restart. I'd have to get friends to hold my villagers but I just don't feel as comfortable with my town as I thought I did. Not that I've joined the community I see the flaws in what I thought was a good map. xD

For me, there's way more cons than pros when it comes to reset a town. Even if you're doing it for cosmetic reasons, I'm pretty sure you'll regret losing some potentially significant progress. You don't want to lose a year old town just for the sake of having a different-looking town.

People seem to fail to think that Animal Crossing isn't just about customizing your town. It's also about creatively dealing with the "imperfections" with workarounds!

I don't know about that. Take Baker: it's the product of a reset due to my original town having awful layout, exactly two villagers I actually cared to talk to and the rest being awful and unwilling to move, and general...boredom. Worked-around imperfections, sure, those were there, but it wasn't a town I particularly enjoyed being in. I'm glad I realised why I wasn't playing for nearly so long anymore and went ahead and reset.

Is it a pain having to unlock things again? Yeah, of course it is - but I've already had more PWP requests in Baker than I ever had in Skullton despite the latter being a year old, I have the layout arranged much more nicely, and I have four villagers I adore and probably more on the way eventually. Heck, I'm dead lazy and I'm still considering doing some pathing. If I can't have a perfect arrangement in reality (stop cancelling classes I'm looking forward to LRU!! ;~;) I'd like to have one in the game I'm playing as a different life. Y'know?

Resetting can honestly make the difference. No regrets necessary! (Unless you realise you forgot some really important furniture in the holding process. xD) A town can be dear to you, but if it's not a town that actually makes you happy...

too many people reset because they see others reset, or because they start getting envious of other people's maps when they were perfectly fine with theirs before. i feel like people want an easy way out (IE there are too many rocks, my plot placement sucks, this villager moved where i wanted a bridge so i reset, i don't like the pattern of my grass anymore, etcetera). nothing is perfect, it's up to you to work hard and make it how you like it. you've already gotten so far with your dream villagers. don't forget about having to collect all of the bugs/fish/badges/unlocking all of the shops and PWPs.

IMO, in a non-malicious way, you have no good reason to restart. there's no need to hop on the band wagon of resetting. also supposedly resetting is addictive, people reset too often because they are searching for a nonexistent perfection and end up losing interest in the game altogether.

I would only restart if...

- Your towns screwed up beyond repair
- You have the ugliest villagers possible (Pietro)
- You hate the layout or the fruit

I reset because I lost my favorite villager and didn't have the patience to do another 16 cycle.

If you thought it was good then it probably was. It's your choice obv but I hope you're not getting caught up in the quest for the 'perfect map'! :b (I've seen a few people become suddenly unhappy about their layouts after seeing what is generally considered ideal for a town)

:(

The only good reason in my opinion: Crappy town layout. Why? Because. It's really the only thing you can't change about your town. Everything else is changeable.

lmao don't fret, pumpki. i've seen other people like pietro as well. his house is pretty crazy.

:p He does have his fans. I've had a visitor tell me even his house was frightening. lol Poor little clown.
