Have you noticed that Animal Crossing is such an intricate little world? I mean, on the outside, it's so fuzzy and cute but underneath... there are complicated systems that mimic our real life economy. And in previous games, there are deep back stories behind most NPCs like Sable's and Tom Nook's. And the villagers that all have certain personalities and say mostly the same things but, there's something that would make one personality type villager different from the others. I love how there are so many ways we can perceive things in animal crossing but in the end, we all see the same things on our screen, more or less. After that deep thought, I ask you this: What did you first think of Animal Crossing? What about your thoughts about Animal Crossing about it now? Is it different? As for me, I believe I got much more than I paid for. And I'm glad I did buy this game.

I originally thought it was Harvest Moon but with cute little animals, because that's how people always tried to sell the game to me because I was a Harvest Moon fanatic.

But it's really not. At all. Animal Crossing is day by day while Harvest Moon is bouts of "I need more time" followed by "THREE SEASONS FOR A DAMN BABY?" Plus yeah running a cute little village of animals vs. a farming/dating sim? Yeeeah not similar haha.

I still adore Harvest Moon forever though. Special place in my heart for it~

After playing New Leaf for so long, I like that I've discovered many little quirks on my own. I also like knowing how the mechanics work, because it makes the game more interesting for me. I definitely agree I have gotten way more than my money's worth from it and I'm glad I gave it a try.

Also yes the backstories are very touching~ and I like that the animals are so blank-slated that you can totally use your imagination with them. Even certain NPCs are blank enough that you can be creative. It's a good outlet for storycrafting.

I agree! This is maybe one of the most intricately crafted games I have ever played. The Able Sisters' backstory was so in-depth and I really enjoy when games have backstories that you can kind of believe and picture. The villagers are all so fun to interact with, and I'm always talking to them to see what they're going to say. Also, I'd like to add that this game has the most (and catchiest) music. A different song for each hour, plus locations and all the K.K. songs!

Do not let me be the only AC philosopher here! (Believe me that wouldn't end well)

I love Phyllis and Pete's little romance!! At first it struck me as odd that he wasn't into Pelly instead (I thought Phyllis was rude and annoying). I realize now that Phyllis is probably not as cold as she wants to appear, and she is probably one of the most complex characters of them all. I guess Pete is smart enough to realize this and it's so cute to me that Pete thinks she has good in her and is willing to wait for her to reveal it only when she is ready. I never look at Phyllis like I used to anymore! My sister made a save file on my game and I heard her complaining about how rude Phyllis is. Hopefully someday she will come to the same conclusion I came to! Phyllis is incredible, to be honest! And so is this little world! It would have been so easy to make Pete have a crush on Pelly, but this world knows better than that.

Also I love how realistic it is! When I say that to people, though, they of course say something like, "So.. this game.. about being mayor of a town full of talking animal villagers... is.. realistic... hm...." but that juxtaposition is something that makes it so great! The fact that its premise is so unrealistic only makes its realism more apparent (extreme contrast is the best way to highlight something imo!)

I mean it goes by on a real-time basis, and you have to wait for things, and you aren't allowed to do mayoral work during holidays/special days, and etc.

I'm sure people brush it off as a silly game all the time, and that makes the fact that it is so interesting and consuming all the better. It is absolutely perfect in that it is a mix of the real world and a better world (a talking animal world)

Enhanced reality pretty much
and that is my kind of video game (but I have this weird anxiety thing about multitasking in different realities - I can't usually get into movies because I guess I get stressed out because I GUESS I think if I delve to deep into the movie reality I will forget my own and I think this whole anxiety thing is deeply rooted in me due to my fear of no existence / losing my current consciousness) (anyways that's why something not too detached from reality is my kind of video game) (and I go to video games to somewhat escape reality so the fact that it's an enhanced reality is cool to me for that reason)

Animal Crossing at its best is more than just a game.

It is a WORLD.

I've played all the various versions that have been released in English, but New Leaf is soooo close to perfect.

I have really started to explore all the animals. I want to create back stories for all of them. I'm falling for villagers I used to hate.

Someone on Reddit AC posted today they just noticed Isabelle's bells with that perfect subtle jingle as you walk around town placing PWPs. When I first noticed that, I was so in awe of the developers.

It is touches like that. It makes the game.

Animal Crossing is special for me. It has been there almost every time I've really needed a getaway from stressful things IRL. Like right now. I'm so thankful for it, and for all of you on TBT.

Last year I played the Sims iPad game for a few months. When I found out your characters will die and there's nothing you can do about it- that was it. I was done. There is enough death IRL. I don't need it in my games too.

We live in a stressful world.
Learning all the game mechanics gives me control to keep it fun for me. The more I learn, the better the AC world becomes for me.

Thanks again to all of you on TBT.
