Wharf Roaches make me want to scream

Is there a trick to catching them consistently? They always seem to run into the water the moment I spot them and they are FAST.

I have caught a couple before, but my villagers keep requesting them so I wanted to catch a few extras while on the Island as backup.

Any tricks for these sneaky little bugs?

walk toward them realllllly slowly, like barely push your circle pad in the direction you are going.

I find that walking around athe a fairly slow pace makes it so you can spot them without scaring them off. After you see one, immediately hold down "a" and creep towards them until you catch them ^.^

Oh! I remember when my villagers kept on requesting these roaches! I did catch them a couple of times, but I didn't want them having roaches in their houses so stopped accepting their requests.

You definitely need to stake them out, and then slowly walk up to them. Try approach them so they don't immediately run into the ocean.

Hold down the catching button to sneak and walk towards them very slowly, this is the same method to catching rare beetles on the island as well.

They are actually on your own beach right now, so you don't need to go to the island for them anymore. I think they are anmoying because they keep running on your beach being useless.

You have to creep up on them, like you would a beetle. It's not so hard once you get the hang of it.

The ones in my town don't spawn very often whereas I see tons on the island.

I catch mine at the island usually the ones that are closer to the grass area, I find it easier, but yeah I try to walk very slowly and swing the net asap xD

As soon as they see you they will run. The second you spot them you have to stop and creep towards them with your net.
