As probably most of you have heard on the news, last week a trainer was killed by a killer whale at SeaWorld by dragging her down in the water and drowning her. (Article here)

Now, some people believe the whale should be killed for killing the woman. In fact, to go as far as stoning the whale to death. (article here) So I wanted to know, do you think the whale should be killed?

I personally am strongly against the killing of this whale. It is a wild animal and should not be kept in captivity anyway since things like this are bound to happen.

The whale shouldn't be killed.
Because the trainers knew the dangers and risks before.
It's a wild animal, I don't really think it knows what's right and wrong.
And if that trainer was really passionate about those whales, I doubt she'd want to put any of them down.
My opinions.

They really are asking for it, putting strong wild animals on show for their lives. So no, the whale shouldn't die. It shouldn't even be there. It is a killer whale.

It has killed other trainers before, you know.

But that's what they get for keeping wild killer whales in captivity.

It's name has killer in it, when you're working with these animals you know you're taking a risk. As for my opinion, I agree with you.

You play with fire, you're at a risk of getting burned, so no.

They're the ones taking whales away from their home, if they want sea creatures they gotta raise em carefully.

It's a Killer whale, it kills. Sure Seaworld makes big money for being an awesome Aquarium and Theme Park, but it's their risk. If they kill that whale, they're pretty much animal abusers. Let it go back to it's home, better luck next time.

If I was mauled by an alligator I wouldn't want it to be killed, that's it's nature.
But if I was mauled by a person, then that's a different story, since we as people have more developed minds and can choose not to maul other creatures.

How the hell would you stone a whale to death? With cannonballs? o.O

And yeah, all trainers there know that there are risks in handling dangerous animals, so the animal shouldn't be punished for it.

i agree with you..

if they didn't keep them in captivity then that wouldn't have happened.

Whale shouldn't be killed because its not like hes all "hey imma go drown this hoe."

it was an accident

Sea world should be stoned.

Seriously it's nature and he's already killed like 2 people why keep him?

He should not be killed, this is why animals should not be kept in captivity. All animals snap at one point, and they should be free to be in the wild.

They should just move him, or set him free, because if they move in to another aquarium he is just gonna do it again.

I think it's terribly sad that the trainer was killed, but agree with the general consensus that the whale shouldn't be killed for acting on instinct.
It seems a little childish. I mean, killing the whale won't bring the trainer back.

An eye for an eye leaves two blind people.
