Weeds won't grow?

I've been planting weeds all over my island since the game first came out but they never grow. I was shocked to hear my friends say theirs grow in days! I read that some folks have islands that won't grow weeds. I'm super bummed because I love the way they look. Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix?

Usually new weeds spawn everyday :O if you keep them unattended, more will grow from that spot and they'll grow larger and taller. It may take a while though...

That's pretty surprising to hear. You should be getting weed spawns every day. I'm not sure if there's a limit maybe? But you should be getting them. Maybe you can buy weeds off people and plant them on your island?

Always place weeds next to each other. I've been observing this as I also use weeds as decoration, and I've noticed that if you plant a weed on a tile that's not touching either another weed or a flower, it won't grow or spawn another weed.

Notice that you don't have to (and more importantly, you shouldn't) completely "fence" a weed tile with other weeds/flowers. A tile normally touches 8 other tiles (unless one of them is a water or cliff tile, which doesn't count). One of these needs to have either a weed or a flower planted on it. Ideally, to maximize growth, you would plant two or three weeds next to each other.

I have so many planted all over, some in small clumps of 2-4 and some in big groups of 10+ I don't seem to ever see new ones spawn either.

I wonder if there is a maximum! I was bringing home weeds from mystery islands immediately and planting them... I'll try picking most of them and see what happens!

Update!! I picked most of my weeds (just over 250) and the next day finally some grew!!! Thanks so much everyone!
