I went on myanimelist.com one time and found myself surrounded with pedophiles defending the sexualization of young girls.

Oh me too. The atmosphere on that site is honestly generally rather mean-spirited as well.

I don't think that anyone deserves be bullied because of liking anime or manga though, as long as they aren't being huge jerks about it (like harassing people over liking series that they don't like or forcing their interest on others - which is what I've seen quite a lot).
