Ok so I did something really stupid today. I knocked my switch off a table while it was plugged in. The switch is perfectly fine thank god. But the metal connector on the end of the charging cord that plugs into the switch is bent. For a while it wasn’t even charging at all, then I tried to bend it back into place and managed to make it charge again, but sometimes it goes in and out. It’s the only cord I have and I really don’t want to have to buy a new one.

has this happened to anyone here and how to fix it? There’s a dent on the metal part but after 30 minutes of fiddling around with it it’s charging again consistently. But I wouldn’t be surprised if it stopped again.

I'm no mechanic, but usually damage like that is permanent, since I've had that happened with plenty of Apple chargers :( The best you can do is buy a new one.

I found some other USB C cords that weren’t nearly as expensive as the switch ones, so I ordered them

Like @LuchaSloth said, BE CAREFUL. The ONLY other charger I use is my MacBook charger because it has a similar voltage and Apple's chargers are certified (But I wouldn't try using a Switch charger on a MacBook).

Yes, Nintendo knows how common USB-C are, so I'm sure they thought this through and there are some safe options, but those cheap third-party ones you find on Amazon or other sites may not be a good idea. Just be aware of the risks.

P. S. In addition, unless you have a Switch Lite, it would be a good idea to buy an official Nintendo charger to work with the dock. Don't use third-party docks/chargers with the Switch dock but you CAN BRICK the system.
