I want to move a villager out but I don't want to time travel >.< TT is so scarey and I keep thinking I will lose one of my wanted villagers. I have tried every single trick I can find on tumblr etc that says how to get rid of a villager but none seem to work.

I guess, who has tried the TT techniques, has there been any failures? How did you get back to the current time and date and not lose any villagers? how far into the future did you have to go? Do these tricks work if you just go forward one day and then backward one day??

Would love some mythbusting on this SO bad!

I usually use the 2 forward, 2 back technique. I haven't had any casualties so far, but I know others have. There's also one technique that others really like that's one forward, talk to all villagers you want to keep, one forward, talk again, go back to starting date. I personally have never had any problem just jumping back to the original date, no matter how far I went.

Go forward one day at a time. Run in front of everyone, if someone is planning on moving, they will ping you.
If you want them to leave, tell them to go. If you don't, tell them to stay. If some are in their homes, save and quit and reload the game on that same day. It will change some of who is inside and who is outside. Repeat until successful.
If you get someone that you want to leave ping you, and you tell them to go but they change their mind, restart. Don't save. They will still want to leave when you reload and may listen to you and leave this time.
As long as you go backwards, it only counts as traveling one day. So even 100 years in the past is one day if it's all done in a single jump. If you make sure no one is leaving by checking all pings, then go back to the current day and there will be no negative repercussion.

The absolute safest way is to TT one day at a time and running in front of every single villager to see if they ping you. You want to make sure you run in front of every single villager to make sure if they will ping you or not. If you want to be even more safe (although make this reaaaally tedious x.x), you can talk to one person over and over again until you're convinced that nobody wants to move out. You probably have less than a 0.7% chance of losing someone, dropping the more you talk to villagers. I think it's possible this might even be a no-risk option, but I don't have anything to prove it lol

If you're not as scared, you can jump 2 days at a time (which is the standard). You don't really hear that many people complain about losses from this. I'd imagine less than a 3% chance of losing something from this

Or if you're a bit more daring, you can jump 3 days at a time (which I used to do, but I advise against it xD). I've moved out about 7 villagers pretty quickly using this, but I've lost Agent S by accident once (even though I was originally trying to TT her out, so I wasn't heartbroken by the loss lol). Lol this seems like an almost 15% chance of losing a random villager, so it's not recommended if you really want to keep something

Oh, and this is just from observation, but it seems like the more you talk to someone, the more likely they are to try to move out. So I like talking them to death until they think, it usually makes them want to move for me xD

If someone requests a move and you decline it, you should be able to jump 4 days into the future without any losses. Hasn't been a single casualty in the 30+ times I've tried it. 100% success rate (so far). But if you want to be safe (and most likely waste time), you can try 3 or less.

Once someone moves in, make sure to TT to the day they are in boxes and greet them. I dunno, I heard this was important for some reason lol, I guess they said it will be near impossible to make them leave later on if you don't greet them.

Once you greet them, you should be able to jump all the way back to the real date from there. I didn't believe this at first, and seemed like it had a 100% chance of failure to me. I wanted to prove myself wrong and took a leap of faith. It works xD Nobody moved out. The villagers even act like only a day has gone by when you've actually jumped weeks, even months. It works for everyone else that tries this. I haven't tested this much myself, but I believe it should have a 100% success rate now. That's just my assumption, though.

I tried it for the first time today and since I am paranoid about losing the wrong villager, I went a day ahead and talked to everyone to make sure no one was moving, then tt back one day asked everyone again, and so on. No one has unexpectedly moved out, but some of my faves have said they were going to move out so I'm happy I talked to them all just to make sure!
