I want a whip and when I crack it, it makes my villagers nearby run in terror. I'm just kidding that sounds so awful.
Holding a lantern, like a railroad one would be cool. I could see a lot of horror islands benefitting from that item.

i like the held items, just wish i had some dedicated non-inventory slots for themi would always carry a wand and an umbrella if i had the extra room to!
my favorite from the old games was bunny and heart-shaped balloons.
on that note - I think that if a tool is in your tool wheel, it should disappear from your inventory, the same way that outfits registered to a wand do.
OR
Different bags effect your inventory - like using a tool bag or box allows you to register your tools to it the same way that a wand works.
Then, in that way, your fruit baskets could be a hold item that you register your fruit to - that kind of user convenience is where this game needs to go.
