Waiting for NH: Nookipedia wiki is actually doing a Top10 of most popular villagers

This is good statistics I want to know about.

You know whenever someone comes up with a ranking list of the most popular Animal Crossing characters and you ask yourself: hmmm where does that guy/gal take these stats from? And you never really have any answer or you get a "well, I've looked at the trading plaza where people trade villagers and made a ranking based on my observations", but you cannot help but feel like it's all approximations ?

Well, I've been following Nookipedia (the best Animal Crossing Wiki around IMO) on Twitter lately and they have started a Top 10: series ranking most popular villagers based on the number of hits (views) each villager page gets on their site. NOW we are talking real data !

I'm not expecting more frogs on the Top 10 though. They said in the tweet she was "aptly described on her e-card as the "cutest" and "best liked" of all the frogs." So unless mistaken, they are hinting at her being the most popular frog villager in Animal Crossing.

yeah i’m not surprised by that aha; the only two frogs i really like are her and puddles, although drift isn’t too bad, either lol

Though I agree that "Most Liked" is a subjective measure, it's hard to argue with page views.

Merengue would be on my list, too, because she shares a birthday with my wife.

Nookipedia is such a good resource for villager stuff in general. I remember a few years ago they re-branded into that handy chart that shows all the villagers and their respective games.

Calling it right now, #1 is going to be Marshal.

Meh... Marshal will be in the Top 10, maybe top 5. But I think Rosie will end up in the Top spot... None of my favorites will be in the Top 10.

i imagine the acpc starting villagers may be on that list. that's probably why apollo is; i didn't think he was all too popular.

To me the fact that Apollo is on there is a sign that those rankings people used to post on the Villager trading plaza were only half right and some microclimate was going on on this forum. I do not expect some "Bell Tree Forum popular characters" will be on the list. For example : Julian. He won't be there. Mark my word.

Merengue, Lily, and Coco don't surprise me - they're all quite popular. Apollo has been in a lot of promotional material lately for NH, so that could've boosted his page views. Merengue and Lily follow the "cute" trend, and Lily and Apollo follow the trend of "natural looking" animals. Coco is a cult favorite.

Let me try to predict who will be in the top 6!

Ones I'm not so sure about (I bolded my 3 bets):
Lolly (cat)
Rosie (cat)**
Beau (deer)
Octavian (octopus)
Poppy (squirrel)
Skye (wolf)
Chief (wolf)

I would normally say Tangy (cat), Biskit (dog), and Bob (cat)**, but there haven't been recent renders of them for NH, which I know thanks to Boccages' previous thread and I suspect that is boosting some page views.

This is tough! Molly, Chevre, Apple, Aurora/Roald, Baabara, Peanut, and Wolfgang are also pretty popular but I don't know if they'll make it.

** EDIT: I'd bet Bob over Rosie. Or maybe in addition? If both, then no Poppy I guess.

i’m guessing that either beau, skye, fauna and lolly will be on the list somewhere - it also wouldn’t surprise me if marshal was on there, too.

The list thing that Nookipedia doing actually sounds really cool! I love seeing statistics and things like that so seeing it being done with page views is really interesting, I'll be sure to check back in to this thread a little later
