My town roster is so lopsided now because of voided villagers! If I knew I would have chosen better ones! So my two islands interact regularly and swap resources, seasonal diys, etc between them. I decided to cycle through some villagers in the south hemisphere town through amiibos, for some resources, so I'd get in a desired villager and use another random card to force them out. The popular villagers get adopted out obviously, but the random ones go to the void. I thought they'd just disappear after I visit with a full town like in New Leaf, but nope. For a whole two months now, every time someone moves out of my main north island, the spot is always filled the next day with some villager from my south island void. I'd go island hopping, then get tired and decide to let someone move in at random only to find that 'random' is just 'south town void villager.' It doesn't even matter to the game if I already have like, 6 personalities of that same type, as long as they're in the void, they're welcome to come on in, I guess. I was trying not to 'engineer' my main island villager roster and just let whoever move in because meeting random villager is exciting for me. But when 7 of my villagers are girls of the same personality type and all from my south void, its time for some intervention.

Wait a minute.. what? I'm confused.. please explain to me because I'm not understanding and i purchased an extra nintendo switch and I was planning to use it to help me get my dreamies in various ways but what I'm thinking you're saying is that if I have someone leave one island that they'll end up going to my other island?? Is this true???? It seems like a never ended parralel vortex where we cant ever get a new random villager?? What and how and why would it do that how are they connected because they are close to one another I just dont get it
... how would one island get another islands void does this happen with whatever islands near you??? Vojd?!?!

How are your two islands connected ina way in which one would get the others voids if we need complete separate consoles for separate islands...?

Wait is it that you visit your other island and they're in this void where even though they're not in boxes you get them anyway just from visiting??

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong...

Whenever you have an open plot and visit someone's island who recently had someone move out, you pick them up.

The best way to prevent this is to invite villagers from the mystery islands or adopt a villager from someone else on the same day you have an open plot.

You could be lucky if the voided villager you happen to get was the one you're searching for. But still.

basically and this can happen any time you visit another island:
island A tosses a villager to the void
island B has visited island A recently
island B tosses a villager to the void and so has an empty plot... if they do not either get a camper/NMT by the next day, they can end up with island A's voided villager
island A can end up with island B's villager as well...

any of the rare times i've ended up with an empty plot, i'm out there hopping islands, because so far to date i don't want any of my hubby's rejects lol and he does the same.

yep...the void is a killer. I've never had any problems with the void in NH because I'm forever scarred from my experience in NL...

I had 9/10 of my dreamies and a 90% completed town in NL. I finally got my last unwanted villager to move out, and was searching on this website for my final dreamie to move in, and was mentally preparing myself to reset for a few specific housing locations. I often played the game with my sister who at the time was in middle school and wasn't as in tune with the game as I was. So one day, I started up the game to discover that Renee the hippo (who recently moved out of my sister's town) was going to be my final resident. I almost cried. I remember being soo angry with my sister, because in NL the 10th villager cannot ever move out of your town unless someone else moves out first. And I couldn't move anyone else out because everyone else was my dreamie, and even if I did, I'd have to cycle through 16 villagers to get them back. Ohhh man, I was so mad. But honestly, in the end, it didn't matter too much because her house was not in a terrible place, her exterior was not ugly, and her design actually blended in with my town. It could have been much worse, so I'm thankful out of all the reject villagers I could have gotten from my sister (or any other online player) Renee wasn't that bad.

Anyways, whenever I have an open plot, I try to fill it as quickly as possible, and for sure wait to trade online until that plot is "sold," just in case. I guess in your situation, it seems like you have to find a villager from a mystery island asap, instead of relying on the game choosing a random villager to avoid getting your own rejects!

My towns interact because I visit myself in each island's system so I can get items, resource, etc from each town. I use my south town to cycle villagers by amiibo. The unpopular villagers are rejected. After a while the rejects from south town find their way north and stay in my north town. If both your island connect to each other, then yeah there's a chance you'll still end up with the rejects you don't want. I voided all these villagers months ago, but so far I've got Stella, Carrie, Nana, Aurora, Sydney, and Midge all living in my town from south void. Gladys lives here too and that makes 7, but Gladys is a native north town villager, so she can stay. All the others have to go, except Aurora, since I actually like her.

My voided villagers have completely infested my friends. Every time they have an open slot poof another void villager. I also get theirs. Only way it seems to not have this happen is to settle for /anyone/ decent from island hopping.

Ive had a voided villager like once in nh (my main island at least) and it was Maple so I was very happy to say the least

I was very surprised by this and had a similar experience in this way:

1. I visited friend's island days ago (I'm unsure of the timeframe threshold in which voids are kept in memory - ready to pounce on my future empty plots!)
2. Some days later, someone from my island decides to move and now I have an empty plot. I decided I would spend the whole weekend island hopping for my next potential villager (This is Thursday).
4. The next day (Friday) comes along, and the same voided villager from my friend's island (in step 1) has now taken up my empty plot. My weekend plans are foiled.

From my experience with the void, here is what I believe to be true.

1) There is no known method of clearing the void. I time travelled over a year and played over 80 in game days and my void was still filled.
2) Voided villagers will buy the plot the day immediately after the "empty plot day". Meaning you have a single day to get an empty plot filled.
3) Your void can hold at least 4 villagers from other towns.
4) I know all of this because if you try to the amiibo of a villager in your void you CANNOT use the amiibo to invite them to the campsite and must take the voided version.

So what happens if you were to let go of those villagers again would they go from a to b and back to a again? And so on?

So no matter what if you visit someone u get there villager from their void?

This sounds like a glitch that needs to be fixed

So basically this punishes people who play frequently with someone else because you can trade villagers back and forth... great.

The void in this game is really... nonsensical compared to past games. I did initially like that there was no cycling required and that you could find a villager so soon after them leaving, but the rest of it feels so dumb.

I heard vaguely that if a villager goes into your void, if you don't interact with any other islands at all, that villager will disappear from your void after four days. I have no way to know how true that is, but that's what I heard. So that might be a solution if it's true. But it might just be a totally made up rumor. ^o^;>

That's actually horrible that you can get villagers that have been voided for months. Makes it so that you can't even let villagers move in naturally without fearing the void or island hop for 1 day :/ Hope Nintendo fixes this

Wow it's crazy that the void can't be cleared at all. I make sure to do a ton of island hopping when I have free plots cause I'm scared of getting voided villagers the most. Since a lot of my friends (never mind the people I've traded with) have voided villagers they hate, I don't exactly want them either.

Does the void also affect you trying to invite amiibo? Like if Bam is in your void you can't use his card. And you can to cycle through your void until bam shows up? I read someone's experience with this so I don't know how truth this is.

Apparently, yes, which really sucks.
I'm not sure how many villagers can be in the void as for someone who doesn't TT, it could potentially render some amiibos useless if said villager was in their void line-up.
