Decided to make a separate thread about it because it might be a little confusing/complicated...that, and I want to get this going asap, and not have it get lost in the sea of other questions being asked.

Okay, so here's my issue/question:

I have one villager to go until I can invite Purrl back in. I've been holding her in my cycling town for DAYS, resetting the clock to keep her there and not lose her to wait until I hit the 16 villager cycle. So basically, she's in boxes and ready be re-invited as soon as I get one more villager out of my town.

I currently have 9 villagers in my town. I know I can still get one to move out, which is the overall plan. I want to avoid getting someone's voided character, because characters you get from the void are never the first ones to move out (you're either stuck with them, or you have to sacrifice a dreamie if every other villager you have is one you like).

To try and get around winding up with a voided character, I plan on doing the following, and want to make sure that I have the right idea/it'll work:
-TT (I use a 2-forward, 2-back method to be safe) to get the final villager out in a cycle.
-There is a villager in my town I've promised to someone else, and that means that there's a possibility of getting their voided character when they come to pick that villager up.

So, here's the question:
If that villager pings to move out, and I have the person come pick them up (or hold them in my cycling town), I run the risk of getting a voided character with either method.
Is there any way to get Purrl back without getting someone's voided character?

If a villager is planning on moving out (is in boxes) but hasn't yet left, can I still invite Purrl back in (after the person comes to pick up the villager to try and get around getting a voided character), or does the final villager have to be out of the town for the cycle to be complete?

ok first of all that 2 days foward and back is weird. isnt that where you TT for 2 days straight? like from 12.5 to 12.7 and then back to 12.5 in two jumps?
any number of days back counts as one day, if not, the same day. ive TTd back some days and the shops/flowers/plants are the same as the day i just TTd back from.

the villager you need to move out is the one for someone else, right
there is the chance of getting a voided villager. its try or never.

this is all really confusing, sorry im not helping.

Urgh I've read somewhere that the 2 forward 2 backwards method doesn't work; there are so many guides that say totally different things that it's hard to decide. o_O

EDIT: here we go - Fool Proof Guide to Moving Villagers Out

^ This guide here is the one that debunks the 2 forward 2 backwards technique.

Just get the villager you want to move out, move out. Then contact the person who wants the villager and ask them the last time they voided a villager. If it's over a couple days and they trade a lot that villager is probably gone and your good to go! :)

That should work. But make sure your giving the villager to someone you can trust and make sure thye aren't lying. :)

I got my daughter's voided Pashmina who was not her last villager voided AND she had been voided months prior. My daughter had visited many towns since then. The void has a pool of characters that one gets randomly chosen from. This makes me wonder if you don't clear your void by visiting a full town?

If the 16th villager's house is still in your town, Purrl will still be on main street.

My question, why not pick up another dreamie, TT one villager out, move forward one day, and then pick up Purrl? And if the villager that decides to move is one you're holding for someone, have that person visit a full town before coming... I had someone do this when I would be down to 8 after the pickup and reallly didn't want a void.

If you don't want to get anyone's voided villager while you're getting a villager in boxes, switch off StreetPass and don't wifi anyone for a while. Use a new character to check for a plot when you start up the game every day, and if there isn't a plot, save the game as that character. You can demolish their house after that.

A method to move out that last villager that seems safer and easier to me than the two days method is the one I use. The basics of it is that you start it on a Monday of a week without events (you can deny someone's request to move and time travel to a date like that). You save the game as your mayor on that date and set your 3DS clock one year forward. Then, you use a new character to check on your town and quit without saving. Whoever is missing from the map is your next move-out. Set the clock back one year again and use your mayor to find and talk to that character. If they're not pinging, talk to them 5-6 times, save, quit, and load the game to talk to them again. Do that until they ask you to move. When they do, if it's someone you want to keep, say no, and set the date one year forward. Load as your mayor and immediately save and quit. Check a year ahead using a new character, go back one year to talk to that character as your mayor, and so on. When it's someone you want to move out, tell them to go. You can set the date back to your original date, as long as you take note of how many days that villager would be moving out in (since now it'll be in that amount of days minus one, because going back any amount of time is a day forward). The side effects of this are weeds and bedhair, but if you have beautiful town, it's not a big deal.

Of course, you can still use the two days method, it just seems like extra work since they won't ping during events and sometimes a villager only thinks about moving after more than two days.

Whatever method you use, make sure that every time you start on a new date, before loading as your mayor, use a new character to search for a plot in you town and save if there isn't one. Even after you've moved out the villager you want, do that until you've invited Purrl in (and until you invite a 10th villager if you don't want it to be random).
