Villagers recognising you in Dream Towns

Sorry if this has been posted somewhere else. I did search the general question thread but I couldn't find it there.

So my character, Neptune, visited a dream town called Polybius. He found Marshal's house and went inside to chat. Marshal knew who he was and called him by his name (see screenshot).



None of the other villagers knew Neptune. Is it because Marshal lives in my town and knows Neptune from there? Does that mean, if I visit a friend's town and they have Marshal (or another of my villagers), then that villager would recognize me too?

i think so! i have octavian in my town, and when i went to a dream town that had him he immediately recognized me. o:

Man, that's so cool! I'm going to have to visit more dream towns, see if I can find my other villagers.

Aw, I love visiting villagers in dreamtowns. Bunnie used to live in Balamb and is now in Bunifrey, so when I dream and see her, she always talks about how nice it is to see me.

The villagers you have currently living in your town recognize you when you are in dream towns and they act as though they were dreaming along with you. It's a shame they don't talk about it once you're back in your own town, though.
However, those villagers you have met from other towns (your friends' villagers, for instance) do not recognize you when you're dreaming. It only works if they are currently living in your town.

yep, any of your villagers that other people have in their dream towns will recognize you, and basically imply that you're dreaming the same dream together. it was such a cute surprise when I first discovered it! :')​

Yeah, but then they turn right back into that town's villager.

Aw, that's so cute. It's a bit questionable though, because how are my villagers in two places at once? although they are meant to be a villager of that town. LOL.

When I visited that crazy Marshal town in the Dream Suite,I ran into my pal Beau.Can't blame him for wanting to get out of that place.

Oh.. i didn't know that this would happen. Because when I visit my friend's towns the same villagers don't recognize me. I wonder why?

My guest town mayor drops by my main town all the time.
When she dreams the main town all the villagers know her and are happy to see her. Both towns have different villagers.

The other night guest town mayor found Tutu sitting in her chair in my main town. First time finding a villager sitting in a dream.
I do like freaking the villagers out in that live in my town. Tutu has asked if I needed to lay down.
