Villager you unexpectedly ended up loving?

I never disliked Snake or anything, but he was one of my starting villagers this go around in New Horizons and he's just so cute and friendly. I love his face especially, his big ol' wall eyes and wide smile are so charming. Definitely a surprise stand out jock.

Marcie is also a pleasant surprise. I asked her to move in on a whim and now she's one of my favorite residents. She's so thoughtful and sweet, definitely the mom friend.
Oh yes, Marcie is adorable. I'm having a hard time allowing her to leave, as I have three normals and I lack a smug.

I love Megan, but I may end up keeping Marcie and Marina...

this seems to happen with a lot of villagers for me. Patty and Boone would be most notable rn. I suppose Boone was gonna be a given because I just plain adore jocks... but honestly, he's really great. as a gorilla, he really makes for a great jock since he already looks so burly. he's designed to look like a mandrill and I think he's quite cute. just a shame he was the starter jock, I really don't like the starter houses.
I'm not too fond of any of the cow villagers, but I don't really dislike them either. Patty doesn't look like much of a peppy, but peppy villagers have a way of winning me over. she may be less cute, but I still like her and will enjoy her being on my island until she decides she wants to leave.

Fang is a popular character and truthfully I only invited him to my island to sell, but when i’d talk to him it was not dialog i read before because i am not too fond of the cranky characters. they are so sweet !

honestly, monty!

he moved in because i had an open plot, and i didn’t care for him and had planned on moving him out but one day i saw him use a springy toy and his face lit up, while my heart melted and now i love him

My saddest day in NL was the day I saw that Monty had moved out after a month (maybe two?) without playing the game.

I legit felt miserable because of that. I always see him on the main street, so at least he's not gone completely. Or at least I hope so, now that I finally had a villager (Gloria) moving out after all these years. I fear that instead of Monty, I'll be only able to find Gloria on the main street.

Shep for sure! I'm fond of dog villagers but also very picky on said dog designs, and I happened upon Shep on a mystery island and ended up taking him purely for the fact I didn't want to end up with a random villager in my plot. I actually brought him home with the sole purpose of trading out eventually but now I love him, and he's a permanent resident. (He puts on glasses! when he reads! even with his sheepdog hair! ahhh how can you not love this!)

aaa i'm so glad you guys are sharing your experiences. these are all so cute.

Tammy! she used to be an ok for me but now i love her probably because her dialogues and her overall look
yes!!! she was an unexpected move-in for me in ACNL and i ended up absolutely loving her!

I don't know if it counts since she's so popular, but I got Molly from my very first desert island just because I knew she was cuter than anybody else I was likely to find. Now I would die for her.

i feel like almost every time i pick up an AC game, i end up falling in love with a new villager. sometimes i felt lukewarm about them, or actively didn't like them, but totally ended up changing my opinion on them as i continued playing.

henry was that character for me in new leaf. bam i decided i wanted because i felt like he'd suit my island's theme in new horizons, but it's been two days and i'm absolutely in love with him and think he's the cutest. and i normally never have strong feelings about jocks!

how about you?

Tex and Pashmina. I have Bam on my island, and he is a super shy boy. Keeps to himself most of the time, and away from the other villagers. He's a sweetie.. I think he should be a smug villager.

Skye. Didn't think I'd ever love a normal little boring wolf like her but she's so sweet. When she sings her little songs I get so excited.

Hmm...I'd have to say Judy. I remember getting her as a random move-in and being surprised because I recognized her as a popular villager. I was a bit hesitant on her and almost wanted to let her go, but after interacting with her more, I can see why everyone wants her and ended up keeping her. In retrospect, I think I was very lucky to have gotten her.

For me it’s Audie! I found her on an island before I built my first plots. I thought she was cute enough but not particularly special. When I learned she was popular I even thought of trading her;;; But recently I’ve fallen in love with her spunky attitude and it genuinely brightens my day to see her around the island!

Truffles, lol. I got her as a random move in, didn’t like it at the time, but she might actually be my favorite villager now. She’s just always happy, so cheerful and says the nicest things to me.

Egbert as well. Hated the idea of a chicken moving in, but we hang out on weekends now.

limberg ?? he was one of my 3 random move ins and I was annoyed bc i thought he was ugly fr but . his cranky personality is much sweeter than the other ones seemingly. he always compliments outfits n I think it’s rlly cute. ugly little old mouse man . good 4 him

This is my favorite part of animal crossing~ How endearing characters can be regardless of how you may have felt about them at first. In New Leaf I ended up loving Bam who was one of my first 4 villagers and is still in my town 6 years later!

In ACNH, Fang is my favorite so far. I'm not the biggest fan of wolves except for Dobie who I planned to bring in as my cranky, but landed on Fang as one of my first 10. He's quickly climbed into being one of my favorite villagers since and I really can't imagine my town without him now :D Cranky is probably one of the few personalities that didn't suffer a steep drop in quality imo

Quillson, I noticed that a lot of people do not like him so I wasn't sure if I would. Turns out, I absolutely love him.
