Okay. I have studied a bunch of guides for the villager reset trick. This is my second time trying it and failing at it.

I made a new character and walked around and did not see the new plot. I did this about 4 times. I kept resetting and making a new save file and did not see the plot. I figured that the new character will be moving in the next day instead and thought it was safe to play with my Mayor.

As soon as I open with my Mayor, the plot appears in a horrible spot. It destroyed my pretty bamboo garden and a lot of pink roses. Now i'm stuck with that plot in that spot. And out about 6 pink roses.

What did I do wrong?

I don't understand.

You have to save with your new character. When you've confirmed that there's no plot, go to Isabelle, then to Nook, pick a house location, go back to Isabelle and let her give you the TPC. Save and quit, then go to main menu and delete the new character. After that the day is set and you can go in with your mayor.

You can definitely avoid the making a new character and walking around 4 times. Just like Jolokia stated, if you start up a new character, walk around the entire town, if there is no plot then you're all in the clear and can go to Isabelle about moving in. Do the whole settling in process until Isabelle saves your game. (If you do find a plot, simply reset your game)

Play your Mayor character. There should not be a plot there. After you have played your mayor character, it should be safe to delete your newly made character file.

Okay, that's extremely helpful. When I saw there was no plot I did not save. Thank you soooooo much! I am repairing the damage, it's not tooooo too bad (luckily). But now I can make sure I do it correctly next time :3

And she's a dreamie, so I kinda have to get over it and work around her house now. I am a little OCD about my town and every space has a plan lol

Also, I TT sometimes so is it possible to change the time before starting a new character? Like, can I continue as my mayor (without actually starting the game, just to get to the settings menu), change the time settings, then go back to the main menu and create a new save file? Does that make sense?
