Villager pictures - your tips please!

I've been Mayor of my village for about 6 weeks now, and of my 9 original villagers who joined me in the first few days, I've still got 8 of them.

I write, send gifts, run errands, chat ... Yet nobody has ever given me their picture. So ....

1. How long does it normally take?

2. What tactics do you use to get their picture?

3. Who was the first villager to ever give you their picture and do you still have it?

Usually takes MONTHS!
Give them furniture they prefer.

How long it takes varies... I think at minimum it was a couple weeks though. I just did everything they asked me to, and gave them perfect fruits when they asked for fruits. Also they seem happier if I give them customized furniture. I think the first villager who gave me their pic was Vladimir? I still have the picture, but not Vladimir

1. I got the game in July and didn't receive my first villager pic until February. But at the time my playing activity was spotty at best, so I'm not sure how long it would've took if I played everyday like I did the first month or two.

2.Same basic niceness tactics, doing favors writing letters, visiting their house and the like. I've also heard adding symbols to the letter make them friendlier in the letter, but I'm nit sure how it affects friendship.

3. Celia and yep, she gave me it around the time I got into tting and I actually got another the next tted day. She also left one in a letter before she left. I gave one away, but I still have the other two.
