Villager not announcing move date!

For a couple of days now, villagers in my husband's town have been saying that Jacques is moving out. He hasn't been able to confirm it with Jacques. He talks to Jacques all the time now, to get him to announce it and say the date, but it hasn't happened. Anyone else have this problem? What will happen?

Supposedly villagers rarely ping you if you never talk to them.

Now that he's talked to him, save the game, close it and start it back up again. He should ping.

Villagers won't ping if you haven't talked to them a lot before then, and if you talk to them the same day you expected them to ping, but haven't before then, they still won't ping you. (From what I've experienced)

I will try that, but he talked to him a lot yesterday and logged out, logged in today and Jacques is still not making an announcement. I'll see if this time makes a difference.
