So I wasn't sure where to put this question as it includes both ACNH and ACNL.
Anyway, as most of us know, in New Leaf you do not have much of a choice as to where, when, and who will move into your town next. In New Horizons this changes drastically giving you a lot more control over this matter. While this can be a good thing, do some of you think that this system seems a bit unrealistic?
New Leaf's system is a little more closer to how things work in real life. You don't get to choose your neighbors. Lol!
I am curious to hear your opinions! I don't know wjere I stand really. Both have their pros and cons
For me, it depends on whether or not I have a theme and want my villagers to match. I don't really have dreamies and I'm happy to get to know and experience a lot of different villagers, so I love the random move-in option. It was always so exciting for me to see a new plot and go read the name to find out who I was getting. I don't have New Horizons, but even if I did, I think I'd be more likely to let my plots get filled by a random villager versus going island hopping.
However, for my second town I have a definite theme and I hand-picked villagers that I wanted and moved them in via Amiibo. I wouldn't normally do that for a main town, but I decided to get creative with my second town.
I will say that I don't like how villagers can place their houses anywhere in New Leaf. In the older games, I think I remember there being certain spots where their houses could spawn. In New Horizons, I know you can place their plots where you want and even move them later. I don't like the idea of moving someone's house from a life-sim perspective. I know that's me taking the game too seriously, but I can't imagine just moving my neighbors house if I don't like where it is. But I think the idea of only being able to build houses in certain areas is realistic enough and that'd be plenty of control for me. New Leaf just went way too random and the villagers always seem to want to place their houses in the most inconvenient spots all the time. I don't need 5 villager houses crowding my front doorstep. LOL
I think it's good that New Horizons gives players plenty of options, though. For those who want more control in choosing their villagers, they have it and for those that like getting random villagers, that's still an option too.
I agree! I think that villagers should be able to choose where they can move! But I also understand how it can be annoying to some. I think NH has too much control so here is an Idea! In CF, WW, PG there were sign posts and where they were was possible villager spots. They could move into any of those tip sign posts. What if you could buy the signposts for around 20K bells and you could choose from the existing spots! That way the villagers can choose which spot they want and you can influence where they move by a little!
