I had been told that a villager only remembers the last town he was in. Erik started out in my town of Pangola, I moved him to Alpine until I had room in Mirage, and now he is finally in Mirage. I took my Pangola mayor over to talk to him, and he said, "How are things in Pangola?" Then, he asked me to do a health quiz (it usually takes a while for villagers to warm up to visiting mayors enough to talk about anything but the storage locker and other things related to traveling) and he called me by the last nickname he had for me in Pangola (which was "cool guy."). I was a little surprised he remembered so much.

So, for those of you who lost a villager and had to move them to a friend's town and then did the 16-villager cycle and got the same villager back, did they comment about being back in your town? I was really under the impression you'd have to go through the whole friendship ladder thing before they'd wave with the microphone, and other things only long-term villagers do!

If you get the exact same villager back in your town (like if a friend was holding them or just moving them between your own towns), they do remember you and say something about moving back!
If you just get a different copy of that same villager, they don't remember and you start fresh.

That's very interesting. I have given people bad information that they wouldn't remember being in the town. Glad to hear I was wrong! It'd be funny if one of your other villagers said, "Oh, why'd you have to go and bring so-and-so back?"

That's so cute! 8'D

I wonder if there's a point where they can't back up memory and it just kind of falls off the back. Imagine a corrupt villager. @_@; aahaha...

That's so cute! I've heard of after finishing cycling 16 and you move the same villager back in, they say "oh, it's good to be home! I'm back!" something along those lines! It's really cute. (:
