I've seen that each villager has two colors and and styles of clothing they favor, but it doesn't always seem totally reflective of what they wear in the game. A few things I've been curious about:
Favorite colors - I have a few villagers that have been gifted clothing that are *not* their favorite color, but they wear them regularly anyway, despite owning other clothes in their designated favorite color(s). Does style take precedence over color?
I also noticed some villagers default clothes are different from their favorite color. For instance, Beau's default is a green sweater, but it says his favorite colors are orange and beige (orange seems like a weird choice because he is orange).
Workout clothes - I have a couple villagers that sometimes work out in plain white tank tops and others that work out in track jackets (none of these have been gifted). The villagers that work out in tank tops seem to also own track jackets but don't always wear them. One (Tammi) rarely wears her track jacket, while another (Cobb) is probably about 80% track jacket, 20% tank top. Then there are other villagers that seem to only wear track jackets and never tank tops.
Seasons/Temperature - I've not time-travelled into other seasons, but I wondered if seasons had any effect on clothes. Are villagers more likely to wear short sleeves/tank tops in the summer and jackets in the winter, or does the game not account for that?
I'm wondering if there is any logic to any of this, or if it's all just RNG.
