Using TT to move villager out?

I am dream villager hunting and need to offer up one of my current villagers in trade. I have heard that using the TT method helps a lot however I tried this once and it had CATASTROPHIC results
Has anybody got any advice

I only go one day at a time,and then one day back at a time. It's time consuming, but safe. You should get a villager ping every day going forward, but sometimes not back. Every third or forth day someone will ask to go (that can be a combo of back and forward). Make sure to talk to some other townies just in case you miss the ping, they usually say if someone is moving. And make sure you are friendly with them! I have a much higher chance of having someone ask if I'm buds with them.
