Update Discussions being too geared towards Northern Hemisphere players?

If they do the diving update in June/July/August, they could promote it as the northern hemisphere players doing leisurely summer dives for shrimps and clams while southern hemisphere get to test their mettle by diving for cold-water crabs and lobsters. I do agree that a lot of these discussions are are NH-centric, but the actual updates are largely either things that are available year round or holidays that occur on a specific date regardless of what hemisphere you're in.

Christmas is still in December in the southern hemisphere.

I think this is the key people are forgetting. The actual holidays still occur on the same day they do in the northern hemisphere. Instead of a summer update it could be more a split update that introduces new furniture/clothing that matches either season (with it being seasonal locked). Diving is universal and so is a Nook’s Cranny update so nothing really special there.

I mean, we're talking about summer because that's our hemisphere. But you guys caught maple leafs for our cherry blossoms, so likely Nintendo is going to update the summer alongside the winter. I just thought of it that way because I understand Nintendo finishing up spring/autumn first so the game is ready for those seasons for the release date. I really expect the next season for us to include new content.

But there should definitely be a Southern Hemisphere discussion board! You guys should be able to discuss other seasons freely as well.

The discussions are mostly about northern hemisphere-geared updates because those discussions are being started by people who live in the northern hemisphere! If you don't see discussions happening for southern hemisphere topics, the best I would recommend is get a discussion going yourself. I'm sure other southern players will join in! ^_^

I'm just a northern hemisphere just riding along as a southern hemisphere person.

I'm having fun experiencing different seasons that are different from mine.

I can't wait to make demented snowboys and have bandit dung beetles haul ass with my snowballs. I was looking in my guidebook and we sorta get snowstorms?

Snowstorms and snow wasps..

I sincerely don't believe they'll release any seasonal updates for this reason. I hope they don't...

The wedding event is something that, though ideally would be held in summer season, could be a winter event too!

It would just be weird if they ignored one hemisphere, or released different seasonal updates for each. We all should enjoy the same content regardless of location!

Basically by adding hemispheres nintendo will be doomed to add things to them

that makes the game's update span 6 months and not a year if I'm correct

wait till nintendo realizes their mistake

Except not because the holiday events are unaffected by the hemispheres

what about the season themed ones? Nintendo can't add a summer event for the southern hemisphere if it's winter, they'd have to add a winter one aswell
True but you said the update span would only be 6 months which isn't the case going by what you said

wouldn't it though? if they already updated winter for the south than why update it again for the north
In the case of season based events yes, but not holidays. Which is what I said in my first response. Festivale is going to take place on the same date regardless of hemisphere for example.

Nintendo is a Japanese company, and Japanese gaming companies are notorious for catering mostly to the Japanese player base. For example, Atlus. Or even Nintendo and the games they've made and won't localize, from Mother 3 to even some of the Pokemon spin offs.

I'm sure they have something planned for southern hemisphere players, else they wouldn't have introduced the ability to let us choose hemispheres! However it's understandable that Animal Crossing and discussion about the game has always been more geared toward the northern hemisphere, because not only there are more players there, but also Nintendo traditionally has designed games with only Japan in mind, it's only recently that they've tried to broaden their horizons (hehe) when developing games. Japan is in the northern hemisphere, so no surprises there. Heck, it took them 5 games and more than a decade to introduce skin tones that aren't pale to Animal Crossing lol.

I’m pretty sure Japan is in the northern hemisphere (which is where the game is based out of) so all the updates will be based on that I’m guessing
