Just making a mild note about Nooks Cranny, but seeing people consistently undercut each other for NMT and drive the price incredibly low is kind of flooring me - but I suppose that's what happens when we turn a moderately renewable resource into what ends up tantamount to a 'premium currency', that can be purchased by the hundreds off of e-bay of all places sdjkghjg.

It just feels kind of counterproductive to lower the price again and again, where earlier this week they were selling for nearly 20 TBT, now down to 9. Hell of a drop!

This might be an unpopular opinion but a lot of things were being overpriced anyway, especially in terms of NMTs. While undercutting is kind of rude behavior among sellers, it’s how the market works. If five people all want to sell the same super duper rare item at the same time, that would indicate it not being so super rare. And if someone wants to make the quickest sale, they’ll offer a lower price. Supply and demand.

Sorry but I can't help but feel like that's a good thing? NMTs inflated the market and they ended up being way more valuable than what they're actually worth, imo. If the demand for NMTs go down then more people will be able to afford things and items/villagers will become more accessible to everyone. I like getting a lot of NMTs from transactions too but I feel like it's much healthier for the market if the worth of NMTs go down. It was only a matter of time.

Plus a lot of people only wanted NMTs to get their dreamies and since the campsite method has been discovered NMTs aren't really needed as much as they were before.

I actually never really liked being paid in NMT anyway.. I’m not a massive island hopper and I think the last time I looked for a villager I did 5 islands found marcie and asked her to move in😂 I feel the benefit from IBG much more as they can help you pay off bridges/inclines/loans etc 😊

I think I'm just focusing more on the fact that it was a steep drop over a period of less than a week - it feels less like supply and demand and a bit more cruelty and cutthroat behavior.

But, I do agree they needed to lower in price - it's just... idk? About the respect of it all I guess!

Anyway, what's the campsite method, I'm unfamiliar?

i’m lowkey relieved about the price drop - it’s a bit more common to find nmts being sold for under 200K and 20tbt which is refreshing to see, tbh ;w;

I'm glad that's happening.

I'm strongly opposed to the idea of an in-game economy in AC, especially when people try to maximize profits as if they were entrepreneurs and stock traders.

If the prices get lowered, that means items become much more accessible, and everyone can get them without having to sacrifice tons of resources.

They're not really undercutting! They're just not overpricing as much. :D

It was predicted from the start that as time went on, the number of greedier "get rich quick" people would start to drop, and as people unlocked more stuff in the game, they also don't need to gain as much from other people. I bet it'll drop a lot further, and that we eventually might even see things like 'entry fees' disappear as the community grows more generous.

That new duplication glitch is doing it’s thing. More bells going around so now you see many with bellions of bells being traded for nmt/tbt.

I've got about 40,000 miles saved up right now, I don't like buying miles tickets as it kind of feels like a waste to me to use them?

Basically my town is full so I couldn't island hop anyway, and I knew the tickets were worth a lot of bells so I have just been hoarding miles in case I wanted to sell some for IGB.

If the price is dropping, that's not necessarily bad, at least for me. I can start enjoying just visiting islands again without feeling like I'm wasting potential money

Well, a lot of comments seem to be saying this is a good thing, but NMT going down in value just means that valuable things commonly traded for NMT will simply inflate to larger NMT amounts. Certain seasonal DIY cost upwards of 100 NMT among informed traders now, because NMT is being valued at ~100k ea. NMT going down in price is good for you mostly if you make bells with in-game methods (like with turnips, and as opposed to trading/merching etc) and plan to use NMT to actually visit random islands. Otherwise their buying power as it relates to bells will remain similar.

Gulliver items seem to be retaining a similar NMT cost only because more of them are coming into the game and they are not being removed from the game by any common means (only Gold Lucky Cats being crafted, but then those are traded for like the same value anyway). So the value of both NMT and the gulliver items are going down, so the NMT-price seems to remain the same.
Ignoring Katana which is worthless because of duplication. And duplication is of course bringing crazy amounts of bells into the game so you can expect a lot of things to further inflate in price.

That's how the other person ensures a sale.

I do this all the time on eBay and in MMORPGs. I'd rather make less to ensure I make something. The lowest price attracts the customers.

If you want something sold you gotta make it attractive.
That's why I always shop online, prices are always a heck of a lot better as there's sites like pricerunner that allows consumers to compare all the prices.

yeah that's how the market works. start off with a few sellers who could charge high prices and be able to get away with it, then when new sellers come in they'll be offering a cheaper price to compete. and so the price will eventually be driven down, dependent on other factors such as the demand, number of sellers or if there are any new glitches available for the common player to dupe

Value is relative anyway. You can't change an economy by undercutting, if it was actually worth more the undercutter would be an outlier.
