“Uchi” villagers now officially called “Big sister”!

I know we are all use to saying “Uchi” but it’s good to know we officially have a name for this personality now called “Big sister.”

I saw the wiki refer to characters as Sisterly shortly after release, much much prefer this one.

Uchi just sounds better to me since it's a one-worded personality like everything else. Big sister sounds so weird and doesn't roll off the tongue as well for me.

I'm not entirely sure on it, but I'm pretty sure "Uchi" in Japanese translates to "my house" or something in Japanese. I think the official name for Uchi in Japanese is "Sisterly".

Though, I do think Uchi has varying meaning in Japan. But it definitely mostly means "home," I think.

So yeah, all things considered... Big Sister makes the most sense.

For some reason it’s “sisterly” that rubs me the wrong way?? Like, it conveys the care and familiarity, but none of the oomph. The “older” sibling part just seems important for the characterization.

I’m probably mostly alone in this—and it would definitely be hard to adjust to a new name now!—but I kinda wish they’d renamed Normals. Maybe into sweet or kind?
(What does “normal” even mean? Sounds boring and generic at best, and borderline offense to the other non-normal personalities haha)

No. They are still called Snooty and Cranky. All Personality names remain the same.

Uchi does mean "house" in Japanese if we take it as a reading of the kanji 家, but otherwise it's also a first-person informal singular pronoun used by females mostly in the Kansai region, which is honestly very fitting for uchi villagers lol

That's a good point.

Not gonna lie, I like a "big sister" kind of figure in my town--I myself am a big sister. Probably gonna refer to them as Uchi when online, though.
