Do you ever find a villager, and think "Hey! It'd be cool to try them out!"? Not neccesarily as a dream villager, but just to see how they are? Or do you have a select amount of dream villagers that you must have, and try to avoid looking at others?

If you see a villager you want to try, how do you go about it? Do you find them on a dream island and talk to them? (Or is the dialog too boring?) Or do you find a person's island to visit with that villager? (That way there's more dialog?) Or do you do something else/anything at all?

I have about 30 villagers I'd like to try out at the moment, so I'd like to find the most effective way to try them out. Thanks :)

If I see a villager on an island and it doesn't give me triples of a personality I already have and I like their design I would take them. I like the randomness of mystery islands but I understand some people don't like spending the time or nmts

If I see a villager I think I might like I usually try and bring them in through an amiibo. If I later don’t like them, I just boot them out with another amiibo.

I recently gave Barold a try (even though I didn’t like him much in new leaf). I love him now.

I use Amiibo cards and the Dream Suite to check out villagers I might be interested in.I get to see them walk around a bit,see their facial expressions and hear a bit of dialogue.

I too love the randomness of the islands, and not only do the villagers I end up inviting become ones I try out, I often end up adding other villagers I run into to my ever changing long list of villagers I’m interested in, such as Alice, Ursala, Bitty, and Rory. I love trying out and finding new villagers, to the extent that I haven’t used any of the amiibo cards I bought

I was planning to have a 100% female island, but I realized I need different personality types for the reactions. This gives me the chance to temporarily try out some male villagers that I wouldn't normally have.

Same here! Reading the threads about people’s favorite villagers also help give me a reason to give some non-dreamies a chance. Seeing pictures and hearing how much people love some villagers I never had any interest in has peeked my interest in a bunch of them and one has even become a favorite (Sherb). Now I’m kinda interested in Hazel, Spike, Pashmina, Moe, Tom, Bob, Dom (who now is in my town) and more! I have two spots that aren’t filled by dreamies (lily is kinda a dreamie - more recent, but she has starter house and was replacing her eventually with a different dreamie) that I plan on using to try inviting non-dreamie villagers from island hopping. I have used amiibo cards for three and to kick out and reinvite a few who had starter houses or whose houses that i messed up, but seeing how the cards took away the fun as well as the frustration with getting villagers to move out and meeting new villagers, I’m going to hold off on using amiibo cards for now.

Almost forgot about Cole too. I wish I had more room for him to be a permanent resident.

I usually try them out, I have two islands so that's pretty easy for the most part :3
That sounds nice. I've really been contemplating having 2 islands, and this is a big reason of why. Being able to have 20 villagers (in total) sounds like a blast!

while i have a set of dream villagers, i’m not opposed to bringing in other villagers that i like/want to try out. i always go about this by inviting them from nook mile islands and hoping for the best aha

I'm currently trying to get a proper posters tab, so I invite every villager I couldn't unlock with amiibo cards. Some of those villagers are unexpectedly fun to have.

I don't like jocks but if I ever get a second island (or the next AC game comes out), Lyman is a strong dreamie contender. He's just so green. <3

I started this game with only a few villagers I knew I HAD to have on my island (Fauna, Marshal, Kiki). I decided to leave the rest up to chance and the randomness of mystery islands and the campsite. I also wanted to try out as many villagers as I could that I had either met on other people’s islands or seen in island tours on YT.

Since the dream suite was introduced I’ve been meeting so many villagers I wouldn’t have normally thought about having as residents. I met Bam and Rosie on dream islands, and now they’ve moved onto my island.

I invite them via amiibo if possible. But with dream islands being accessible now, I can meet them and see their homes without much hassle. I just need to ask for DAs of those who have them.

while I do typically move them on, if I was really curious about someone I looked for someone else who had them. Me and bf did this with pango.... If I move them on my island, I know I want them even if its just for a short lived time
