I invite all the villagers that I come across on Mystery Islands or the campsite, as long as I'm not immediately turned off by their design or am looking to fill specific personality type(s). There have been a couple times when I liked how they looked in-game versus what I saw in screenshots. I wish we could have more than 10 villagers!
I usually just cycle out villagers if I received their framed photos already, so that gives space to try all new villagers & let them move in. There’s only certain villagers I’ll never let leave though (merry). My goal is to acquire all framed photos naturally, with no trading. So we’ll see how it goes or if I stop playing the game before then. It will definitely be a long long journey!
i was never a fan of marshal, but everyone loves him and he's a fan favourite and i never understood why.
so I finally had space on my island and thought what the hell... so i bought him off someone and he came to my island and nowww...
I'm in love with him<333
he's so funny, cute and adorable.
I try to have one of each personality type on my island at all times, so depending one who moved out I'll either find any villager with that personality who I think looks nice or I'll just take anyone I like the look of! I don't have many set 'dreamies' as such, so once I get a villager's photo I'm usually happy for them to move out so I can experience new villagers
I have eight villagers locked in now (Lobo, Lucky, Poppy, Gonzo, Coco, Dobie, Zucker, Blanche). No matter what they look like, I wouldn't invite another Cranky or Lazy as I'd have too many duplicate personalities.
If I see a villager in my campsite or on an island that looks cool, I'll invite them and they'll have a home until they decide it's time to move on. Bonus points if their house exterior/interior looks nice too. I do have two areas on my island where certain houses (e.g.: brightly-colored exteriors) would look extremely out of place.
for a while i was island hopping just to find recipes and extra materials, but i did come across a couple villagers that i took into my town. they are no longer in my town now, but i do like them all more than i would have in the past. so i guess i do try them out to see if i would ever be interested in having them in the future!
Really the beat way to see whether or not you like a villager is to invite them over to tour island in my experience. I always have a plot on my island that I can cycle through once I feel it’s time to get a new villager, it’s refreshing and really nice to do, especially when your pleasantly surprised... or not so pleasantly surprised. I have had a fair share of villagers I though I would love but ended up being underwhelming (eg: ketchup) but on the other hand I never expected to love Hugh, mac or a whole other range of villagers! Some of whom still reside on my island today
I actually had this kind of situation often since I started playing NH. There were a bunch of villagers which were never that appealing for me in previous games but now started to became more interesting for some reasons I can't explain. Some which coming up in my mind right now are Elise, Curlos and Cherry. I let them move in/stay on my island and they became after a while my favorites.
i don't necessarily understand the meaning behind "trying" a villager lol. if i really like a villager, i will just invite them. if they end up not vibing with me after all, i move them out and replace them with someone else or the previous villager. though my current lineup is pretty much permanent, there are also some villagers i really like who aren't on my island.
this is where my bff's island comes into play lmao. since we're pretty much on the same page with most things, several of her villagers are also my new favs so i kinda live vicariously through her as well. each time i visit her, i can talk to them. so in a sense it's kinda like having a second island but not really.
I planned to have 8 permanent villagers and 2 spaces for rotating villagers. They'd be whoever I found cool from mystery islands.
Jeremiah is currently ruining my plans T-T
I find myself regretting letting anyone go by... hard to let anyone go.... although i do have atleast 15 preferred dreamies.. ill probably end up with 20 or 30
I usually move them on and if I hate them I tt to move them out... it’s def a process but worth it tbh bc I can get peeps who I enjoy. Sometimes it takes a while to decide if I want a villager to be permanent lol.
I've been finding villagers by islands and if I think they're interesting enough, I move them to my island. I do run into villagers occasionally in other methods, but usually always from the islands.
