True Animal Crossing Fan?

Yes, I've played WW, CF and now New Leaf, I have the ACNL special editional 3DS XL and an animal crossing theme. I even have a Reese plush ^^

I should mention that I bought the special edition XL when I already had a 3DS, I just really wanted the animal crossing version ;3; maybe that just means I'm really bad with money...heh...heh...

My eyes are burning from the op.

I know right, I can't be bothered to read it, so much effort… D:

Lets just say I know everything about animal crossing pretty much, I love animal crossing news and stuff, but I'm not a big player anymore...

I've had all of the Animal Crossing games, so I would say so! Someone borrowed my WW, so I never got that back. And I didn't get to play it very much beforehand. My first was Animal Crossing on the GameCube in 2004-ish.

Nothing personal, just want to point out: There's no such thing as a "true fan". You either like/love something or you dislike/neutral. While being knowledegable or supportive of a franchise or whatever is great, you're no more a "fan" than anyone else. There's no need to prove you like something more than someone else, just revel in the enjoyment of it together. With that said, Animal Crossing is one of my favorite things ever (along with Isabelle).

I have played every single game. Know every single villager. Have played for 1000+ hours. Gosh, I need a life. Lol! xD

I would definitely say so! I own and have played all of the games except the GC version, which I reeeeally want to play but I don't own a GameCube :( I wish they had it downloadable on the Wii U somehow because I would totally play it.

The series also became an inspiration for me because I'm now super interested in bugs and fish thanks to it! It's almost silly to say but Animal Crossing has broadened my horizons for life, which is pretty cool to say. ^^

Yes, I would say I'm a huge fan.

I've played every ac game.
I have around 4000 hours into new leaf.
I own 5 new leaf games.
My first town has all the gold badges. ( except gold streetpass).
When I'm not playing, I think of ideas of fun and creative rooms I can make.

I'm a true fan because I enjoy the game. I think it's unfair to shun people because they don't know all 333 villagers, or they have only played New Leaf

Yes!! I had WW since I was in third grade (I'm in eighth now), and I also have CF and NL, which I play almost daily! So you could say that I'm a true AC fan. :)

Your knowledge of the characters in the game does not make you a true fan.
Having all of the games doesn't make you a true fan.
And bragging about it just makes you a snob.
I know, practically every name of every villager in AC:NL.
That doesn't make me a true fan. That doesn't make me better.

I believe a true Animal Crossing fan is someone who can sit down, play and enjoy the game.
Someone who just thoroughly enjoys and loves playing the game.
Someone who doesn't make it a competition, to say who's the better fan.
That is why I am a true Animal Crossing fan.

Also, your font color is difficult to read.

You make a valid point!

I wouldn't consider myself a true fan of the Animal Crossing series, because of the word 'fan'.

I really like spending time in game and bonding with the characters, collecting things and arranging my house or town.
The interactions feel pretty personal, despite it being a game.

So it's more like something I like spending my time with, rather than being supportive in more vocal ways.
Like... I wouldn't say that I'm a fan of my best friend, they're my friend because I like spending time with them and we get along well.
I am probably really bad with expressions but I hope you get the gist of it ^^

One of the awesome things about getting into this game for the first time as an adult is I had/have quite a bit of fundage at my disposal to really get into my hobbies and no one saying I can't, so when I first picked up AC (it was WW) I got hooked, bought a second ds and three total cartridges to visit myself with and then Wii and CF came out and I couldn't justify buying a wii as soon as it released so I held off and decided to go retro and I bought a game cube and population growing, ended up with four towns in that game as well as my three on wild world... Once the price dropped on the wii I picked one of those up and played CF as well, for a while I was playing all three games simultaneously, though mostly spending my time on CF. I got tired of that and went back to wild world. I knew that NL was coming out but hadn't really played any animal crossing in almost a year due to pregnancy and babies and adult stuff and was like, nah, I don't need to buy another new system for this silly game I've spent so much time on... but then I saw a few screen shots from NL when it released and that was it, I bought a 3ds within the week and have had up to four towns at a time since beginning it. I've spent tons of hours planning and studying the ins and outs, bug and fish lists, item catalogs, villagers and their personalities. I tend to over research anything I'm into and animal crossing is totally one of those things. I may not have had all the villagers but I could describe the physical appearance and personality of probably 75% of the available villagers anyway just from constantly looking up who is in what personality type or creature type.
I'm not into a lot of "hobby" things, I have work and my kids and my pets, but Animal Crossing is like my personal refuge from everything else and I am absolutely a diehard fanatic. (I even have a kk slider sticker on my car... and quite a few kitschy little toys and trinkets)
*edited to add, while I do feel like a "fan" I don't think its a competition in any way. I just happen to have been a fan of the franchise for a long time and tend to end up delving into the minutiae of everything I get involved in with any seriousness, I am also constantly trying to share it with others to whatever degree they want to join in, simply because I find it such a joyful experience that I want everyone to know how amazing it is whether they are brand new to it or been at it for a while also.

I find the whole idea of being a "true fan" of anything to be pretty dumb and obnoxious.

I like Animal Crossing. I'm a pretty big fan. I'll leave it at that.

I'm a fan of Animal Crossing. I love this game and this is the reason why I bought my 3ds. <3

If someone enjoys the game enough to join an Animal Crossing forum, like everyone here did, I'd say they were a fan.

Came here to say this.
If you love the game, you're a fan. If you feel like you love the game enough to be called a "true fan," then that's what you are. :) Though I'm guessing this thread was more about how dedicated are you rather than are you a true fan.

If that's the case, I got Wild World at age 11 and loved the thing (and my DS Lite, ah those were the days) to pieces. I bought my 3DS XL for the sole purpose of buying New Leaf, so... you could say I'm pretty dedicated. I love the game and am even considering pitching in with my sister (who also loves the game) to buy a Wii U when the next potential Wii U version comes out.
