Recently, the SD card holding my digital copy of New Leaf has been acting strange. In the middle of playing my game, it randomly decides to give me the "SD card not found" message, resulting in me losing any progress I may have made if I haven't saved.

This has never happened to me before, and it's happened twice to me today. Once this morning before I even began the game (it said the SD card could not be read as soon as I turned on the DS) and once about a half hour ago after I got back from my friend's town.

I recently did a system transfer from my normal 3DS to my new 3DS XL, and before then, the SD card didn't give me any problems. It's the standard 2 Gig SD card that came with my regular 3DS.

My question is: Is there a way I can transfer this data over to another SD Card, preferably the 4 Gig one that came with my XL? Will my SD card just stop working soon, resulting in me losing all of my Animal Crossing data (oh god please don't say yes to this)?

I have another SD card with Pokemon X on it, and it has yet to give me this problem, so I feel as though it's the SD card that isn't working correctly.

Any help would be appreciated. I put a lot of time and effort into this game and I'd hate to lose it because of an SD card malfunction.

Yes its fine, I did it once already, (almost lost my file too ): ) just be sure to move ALL the files from the sd card to the other. Maybe format the newer SD card before moving the ACNL files (assuming there is nothing on the newer SD).

Is it necessary to do the transfer, though? Like I said, it's only done this twice since I've had the card (I've had the card since March of last year) so I'm not sure if I just bumped the 3DS loose and made the SD card shift or what. I only want to do a transfer if it's absolutely needed, considering I'll have to go to my friend's house to do it since my own computer doesn't have an SD card slot.

I'd really love some more input from others! I only want to transfer the data if it's 100% needed, since I'm not the best with computers and feel as though I'll screw something up if I do end up trying to transfer data between SD cards.

Dude, you can get a little SD card reader for $5. You should at minimum back up your data just in case. If you do, just follow exactly the walkthrough on Ninty's site.

don't do it, it's too risky. or at least, that's my opinion. i only recommend doing it if you're a genius with computers. if you do, make sure to be very careful and remember to turn off the system before removing/inserting the sd card.

Yeah, I'm not the best with computers... If the problem persists and I feel as though the SD card will die soon, I'm going to have to call up my friend (he builds computers and creates software so he knows his stuff) and have him do it for me so I'm certain nothing will go wrong.

The problem has not persisted yet, though, so hopefully it was due to the fact that I may have bumped the SD card area and shifted it a bit... No big deal.

Dude I've yet to even need to do it, and I can tell you right now it doesn't require that much technical experience.

Like this should be basic **** you could probably find a guide pretty easily for just by searching Google.
