Arcadia or Acacia could go for either theme.
Any lesser-known tree name could do well for a forest town, such as Rosewood or the aforementioned Acacia. Or any cool-sounding plant name, like Ivy or Foxglove.
For a simple-yet-elegant town, Velvet, Grace, the aforementioned Arcadia, or Silk could go well.
I also like the name Ironheart for a town but I don't know why.

A good name for a forest town could be Mori because it means forest in Japanese. But if you want it to have a sort of dark feel it also means "to die" in Latin. For an elegant town Thornton is simple and sounds like an upscale small town.

Lin Isle which basically means forest peninsula/island, for the 'forest' town.
Elysia which means blissful, for the 'simple yet elegant town'.

Name the forest town Endor and get a bunch of bear villagers. Train them in the art of war so you can defend the galaxy.
Or Troia, after the area in FFIV that was covered in forests everywhere. Such a purty name.

I can't think of anything for simple yet elegant, but maybe something will come to me~

Name the forest town Palinoia. It has a meaning (but I forgot what it is) when I get a second town that's what I'll name it

Sherwood is the name of the forest from Robin Hood. ( You probably already know that ). Anyway, I really like that idea of a forest town being called Sherwood. It was also the name of this really cool forest in a small town I used to live in. Kids would ride their bikes through it, and it was a great short cut on the way to school.
