This rotund raccoon man has crushed every single hope and dream I?ve Had for my main town in one fell swoop.
I always planned to have the full 4 characters in Lorien with the final being a huge bakery that would complete my ?mini main street? in the north of my town.

I?ve built up all of the first 3 characters nearly completely and finally felt confident enough in my path laying that I could make my 4th character without worrying about not being able to plot reset anymore.

I get to the point where I need to place my new home, I run to where I had it pre-plotted with patterns
2 spaces from the river on the left, 2-3 from the plaza on the right. PLENTY of room. And even a backup option a few spots down in case he doesn?t like the plaza being too close.

HE REJECTS EVERY SINGLE POSSIBLE PLACEMENT THAT THE HOUSE COULD POSSIBLY FIT IN
I?m what feels like miles away from the plaza at this point. Nowhere near where I thought I?d have to be. So desperate I?m literally checking every single tile. He rejects them all. Every one.

This raccoon had the audacity to tell me I was too close to the plaza even though I?m 5 tiles away at this point.

So basically now I have to scrap an entire building/character I?ve Had planned for 2+ years at this point.
I hope his shop goes out of business.

I knew this day would come eventually but I can now say...Tom Nook is officially my lifelong Arch Nemesis.

I really wish Animal Crossing had a grid system similar to Harvest Moon A New Beginning sometimes. It's so hard to see where you can and can't place houses and PWPs.

It's really too bad that your plan won't work. :( Is there any nearby backup place, or no?

Yes I have highhhhh hopes for a better system for placing pwp’s and houses in the new AC!

I actually didn’t have a backup plan for this because there was really no reason I shouldn’t have been able to place it there, at least not tile-wise as there was plenty of space for it to fit. I think it was an issue with too many building being in one “block” of the map which I forgot was something the game limited.

But after a bit of rearranging I think I found a way to switch my little orchard to the spot where Tom nook won’t let me place homes and move my bakery to where the orchard once stood.
It’ll take some work but I think I actually like the new placement more than I thought I would! Still not as good as my other layout but definitely still cute :)

The grid system would be great. Maybe they'll even let us place it ourselves the way they let us place furniture with Happy Home Designer. That would be the dream, tbh.

Want me to send Al and Peewee over to Nook's place tonight to rough him up a bit? Make him an offer he can't refuse?

I snorted when I read this because I actually pictured that entire scenario xD
Nah let the old man go, I’ll get my revenge when he least expects it

I'm thinking of not placing any paths or works projects of any kind until all of my dream villagers are acquired, rather than going through the hassle of resetting constantly to get the villagers to put their plots down in ideal locations.

I totally respect that. I just don’t have the self control to do it myself!
I would suggest at least placing a few paths in front of your town hall, retail, and mayors house because in my experience villagers definitely like to place their houses smack in front of other buildings. But otherwise letting them place themselves freely and then building around that is an awesome way to play!

I mean, there is already a dream villager house not far away from mine and some houses in front of the Re-Tail and town hall, but I'm sure I can work around it.
