Today I Learned: New Horizons Edition

that's such a hyperspecific thing for them to implement i love it. maybe it's just me but there's not too many circumstances where you're playing the game you share with someone who hasn't already upgraded to a house, who still has the radio in their tent and has had it turned on, and their tent is in a place where you would happen to stick around long enough that you hear the radio. maybe it's more likely than i think it is but it's still a really nice attention to detail

someone may have mentioned this (you'll have to forgive me for not wanting to search through the 110 other pages) but i just found out, if a villager asks you to catch a fish and you offer them an extremely rare one, the game gives you an option to change your mind. (i assume this is also the case for bugs.)

i learned this because i forgot the barreleye was so rare because it wasn't in new leaf. but rowan was so happy, even though we're not close i'd feel so bad if i took it back...i spent the next half hour or so trying to find another one to no avail. it's really not a big deal, i have more than enough bells and i'd already donated the barreleye to the museum, but it does sting a little that i essentially lost 15k bells from my ignorance.

What! Oh, I had no idea about the rare fishes! Veeery cool!

Today I learned that the Sanrio villagers aren't tradeable which is a bummer because I can't find my amiibo card for Chelsea. I have all the others. I'm going to have to go through all my stuff to find it. Maybe it's being used as a bookmark in a book I put down. Maybe I was using it on my break at work and left it somewhere in my messy cubicle drawers. No Chelsea and no My Melody furniture for awhile. On a side note, I appreciate the Sanrio villagers more now that I've also played Hello Kitty Island Adventure. I didn't really know much about the characters being referenced before HKIA.

Late to the party but I just learned about fake art that are haunted or have things on the back like this one. I need to collect fake art now.

or is it the contrary? Just read real ones had tags. Need glasses.

don't feel bad. it took me quite awhile to figure that out too. I had no idea there was a second page to the cabinet stock
I also had the same misunderstanding and was so confused, i thought there was like a second floor or something at first, don’t worry! : ) (it’s a pretty common thing !)

TIL: If you show off a creature, villagers and the other characters will clap for you if you’re near them ^_^

Today I learned that Sylvana is based on the Japanese giant flying squirrel.
They're so cute, just like this little weirdo.

Aaaw, that's cute. Now if I ever see her on HHP, I might make her a cozy nature-themed cottage. ❤️

Anyways, today I learned that villagers can aggressively (well at least suddenly) chase you down in the HHP beach to ask you to design their vacation home. I have never had that happen to me before. XD

Depending on which animal they are that is a slightly terrifying thought haha Would not want to be chased down by a bear or a crocodile

Haha, same. I was chased down by a rhino so in real life that would be a bit scary. But it was Azalea, and she isn't frightening at all. XD

I learned recently that with the DLC, you can redesign villagers' houses, inside, of course, but also outside.
I never knew that.
So glad but a bit late I guess! Previously I would choose villagers based on their house appearence according to my current theme, but now I can just take anyone I like!

I think I learned that for Happy Home Paradise I would have to first buy the software, which I'd like to do, but then pay a subscription on top of that for the privilege of using it? Is this correct?
