Sorry for the very slapped together image |D I don't have my tablet on me rn and my familiarity with Paint appears to have left me, I needed to make sure to actually mark where the places I want to clear are.
I've been debating for weeks now whether to cycle out Rolf and/or Jitters- primarily Jitters. He's in a bit of an inconvenient location (that entire lower section kind of is a mess, but he's the one I don't want to actively keep...), don't like his design much, I'm sure I can find jock type villagers I want to interact with, that kinda thing |D Rolf I actually kind of like, but his house was right in a spot I was using to set up my mayor's property landscaping, and one of the big empty areas I was holding for snowmen/PWPs.
My biggest problem is: I don't do intense pathing. My town is filled with trees, the upper half is slowly becoming a cedar forest/where I'm growing up some hybrid flowers. I can mitigate some of the randomness by getting more selective with who I'll want to move in, but to ensure something resembling order, I'd probably have to deforest and tear down all but the PWP landscaping I've done so far up there.
On the one hand, it's a massive undertaking and huge pain in the butt, will probably cost several tens of millions bells and mean my town is pretty WIP for at least another few weeks, at best. (and probably condemn my villagers to even more groundhog day loops of TT |D) On the other... gives me reason to keep playing! Get some villagers I want (I'd love to have Chief replace Rolf for the cranky type, I love that personality lol)... and if I'm already having to tear down half the town and start again, I might as well go the whole hog and slowly cycle out/back in my dreamies into a slightly more orderly neighborhood in that bottom left corner. It'd be nice to have the majority of villagers concentrated (the upper four are actually pretty okay where they are, though I've debated moving Carmen who's way in the upper right alone there) in one place and be able to set up a real little road/path/town center.
I've looked at other well-laid towns and drawn some inspiration already, but I find it most helpful to actually talk a plan out! So if anyone else has undergone extensive renovations like this, I'd love hearing your advice, if a simple cycle might be wise; go all out and cycle in like at least 3 others (Julian, Meringue and Skye- possibly Diana and Beau, I'm not super thrilled with their placements but they're not disruptive), or not rock the boat and risk losing a lot of work.
Some other information to... uh. Inform advice I'm looking for:
-Town is semi-Sailor Moon based, though I'm only really planning on Ami and Usagi as extra residents for now- at the moment, the layout of villagers/etc in my town makes placing any others a bit too disruptive for what I'd like to go for.
-Other theme is very... fairy-tale forest-y, in the northern half; residential in the lower. I don't mind a few villagers in the upper area, but I want to leave some good, large empty spaces for picnic spots, snowmen in the winter and general viewing/flower growing during the other months.
-Favorite villager types are Normal, Lazy, Cranky... though I can tolerate some peppy, jock, etc types depending on design; e.g. I'm not fond of the Smug type, but Julian's design fits my themes well and just makes the personality type work a little more |D
-Resetti center is in the very, very upper left corner where that pond cuts everything off, other permanent structures are... well, where they are |D
-I want very, very much to keep that near straight-shot path from downtown to the beach, that's the main thing that actually got me keeping this map and why I'm hesitant to completely reset again.
So uh.. thanks anyone who read through that ramble, thanks to anyone who responds, and have a good day ^^;
