Tips for spawning flies?

Yeah, really. I can't seem to get them to spawn for life... I've tried both trash and rotten turnips but trash doesn't seem to spawn anything and turnips only give me ants when they actually spawn something.

Is there any (non-)hidden requirements that you need? All guides basically say "trash" but trash doesn't exactly do it for me and most guides doesn't explain further (see why I'd love that book LOL)

I found rotten turnips work for me but took a bit of them for them to spawn. Any time I saw ants on them I would scare them away until a fly came.

Been trying that but it's like they won't spawn at all :/ Might have to try again when it's better weather again.. But yeah trash doesn't really spawn stuff for me in NH so I'll hold on to my rotten turnips... thanks though <3

Yeah, though it still only spawns like none or just ants agh.. send me luck pls <3

I think from the trash, cans work best. I caught my fly pretty quickly by using a can. I only needed to use one.

yep i got flies from rotten turnip.. oddly enough no ants tho :/ funny how rng works!

Seconding this! It took me a few tries, but I had spread out like 10 pieces of garbage (none were touching directly) near one of my character houses and I just kept entering and exiting until one spawned. They're sometimes hard to see though and they can fly from piece to piece so walk by carefully.

Thank you all for replies, I'll try and collect some trash and put down my turnips and hopefully it will help some ... it's really driving me a bit nuts because it just. won't. appear. ugh.

Lost count for whenever I got ants and it's like.. bruh do flies exist ahaha

Yeah that's the game basically for anything but this is proven to be extra hard since they don't have any time/season etc requirements... D:

Just put one rotten turnip on the ground. Run at it to scare away ants when they spawn, walk away then back (usually something will have spawned again). Rinse and repeat haha

I also have been having trouble getting a fly to spawn! I am currently collecting more trash to try the mini dump method lol

Yeah I think I have my rotten turnip still and I'll try collecting trash. I don't recall flies being that annoying in NL lol

All I did was making a massive stack of trash. That did the trick for me
