Hey. I'm really bad at landscaping my towns... It always turns out so ordinary and boring. I've visited like 20 dream towns for inspiration and nothing helps. Does anyone have tips to use for landscaping? I'm making a cedar-zen based rainy town with the native fruit as apples. I also have about 90% of the PWPS unlocked.

You already have a theme in mind, so that is great! :)
Finding which flowers, public works projects, bushes, etc you like in particular first and working around that helps a bunch. You usually may base it around those and make if more cohesive by adding same-color elements to build upon it.

For general placing around things, when there is space between everything with landscaping, it makes the area feel more natural if you are using paths. This all depends on what you are going for of course!

I have decided on my pwps and bushes already, but i don't know what flowers go well with my town, Would you happen to have any suggestions?
I'm also using clovers and weeds unstead of a pattern path since i couldn't find any that blended perfectly.
The main problem i seem to have is that i make my town way too tight and inclosed. I always wind up putting too many trees too close to eachother of too many bushes and not enough trees. I kinda just place the trees and bushes in random places and check if it looks good. Is that a bad idea?

Some stuff I do while landscaping-

Buy a ton load of flowers, trees and starts from Leif. The flowers I plant randomly to get my badge. They'll get rearranged later. Save the starts and trees for later.
Once I get drawers and draws full of starts and trees and my paths are set, I plant foliage around them. That is if you choose to border your paths with trees and such. Once you've established your border pattern, put down, don't plant, what you want. With the corners, curves and awkward path spots, you'll find yourself rearranging your plants over and over again.
*I find using grid paper and mapping out your path and potential starts helps.
Once you've decided, yes this is what I want, start planting the border. I usually don't plant more than 7 or 8 things -starts or trees- a day, but I've heard it's possible for your town to have 12 at a time. Once your border is set and using what you already have around your paths, mix it up. Choose one area to start, branching out and having more of a natrual 'flow'. If you have one part of your path with more apple trees than cedars, plant more cedars and starts. I plant trees first while keeping in mind where I would like to put starts. Once that area is complete, plant the flowers as the cherry in the cake. Randomize them to add more visual appeal, or put then in a pattern to create an organized effect.

TL;DR
Buy a bunch of plants
Save them
Plant your path border
Branch out from that
Add variety

Hope this helps!

Knowing the sort of theme you are shooting for, I utilize a lot of Zen and nature-related elements in my town if you want to check out the Dream Address in my signature! :) Hopefully, this will provide good inspiration and feel free to ask any questions about my town if you are curious about anything! :D
