Time Travelers vs. Non-TT'ers - Better Playstyle?

I used to be a TTer when I played Wild World, but it was boring.

I decided to try out with New Leaf, and I got really tired because no Phineas, no Joan (?), kept falling over, neighbours moving. Then I chose to play without TTing and it became more fun.

If time travel wasn't a legitimate way to play, AC programers would have tied the time directly to the 3ds clock instead of letting players choose how and when to play.

I TTed to choose my villagers.

At first, I think that TT ruins the game, but everyone got their own reason for TT.

If you're gonna make a theme town or a great town for everyone to enjoy in dream suite, TT is your best choice. That way you can make a dream town people will enjoy before some of them get bored with the game. You can always make it without TT, but you need to invest a lot of time with it, I'm pretty sure the hype is not there anymore. And less people will enjoy them. But if you really against TT, I guess you won't enjoy a great town if they build it with TT.

Why are there so many TT threads? I don't think it matters how people play and I don't think it's necessary to have a new TT thread every week.

to each their own, the games are OURS and the option is there so I say play how it makes you happy! I used to TT with wild world and I did get bored of it once I had millions and millions of bells and a full catalog...I llike that there is SO much more to do in this game so I am hoping not to get bored of it.

I TT, and I have zero regrets. I just think the game is so fun, I can't wait a whole 24 hours to see what the next day brings! I love to fish, so I'll just spend hours and hours fishing and when the shops close I'll move to the next day in order to continue. Yeah, some of you might call it cheating, but I'm not a patient person and I've never travelled backwards to exploit turnips or events - only forwards so I can see what'll happen next.

I'm time traveling until I get my town the way I want it and get all the villagers I want.

I personally don't feel like there is a "right" or a "wrong" way to play Animal Crossing. This game has such a wide audience that obviously not everyone is going to enjoy the same playstyle. I feel like if Nintendo expected us all to play the game a certain way they would have made it impossible for anyone to Time Travel. But instead they have given you the option to either take it easy or to hurry through the game.

That being said, I don't see why people care so much about how others choose to play their game. If Nintendo doesn't care then why should anyone else?

As for me: I'm a time traveler. I play for several hours a day so by the time that I do all of my chores I have nothing else left to do. Sure, I could just go around town doing absolutely nothing and waiting for the next day to come, but I don't see the point in doing that. Maybe that sort of thing is exciting for other players, but.... I get bored when I don't have anything to do in game and when all of my villagers are asleep.

Like... when I first got the game I decided that I wasn't going to TT at all. Three days into the game and I was SUPERRR BOOOREEEDDD of it because my villagers were always asleep when I was on and I had no island so I would just go around catching fish that I couldn't sell and I couldn't even donate them to the museum because after a while I had already donated most of the things that I had caught... >_>; Now that I TT I can't get enough of the game. Whether its catching bugs/fishes, looking for fossils, trying to earn badges, or helping villagers out with quests I always have something to do with the game now. I don't really think that unlocking a few shops early changes anything. I mean, I play Animal Crossing for the things that I can do in the game, not for unlocking shops. There are some things that I try not to do when I TT though... like if Redd's tent shows up in any day other than the actual date, I won't buy anything from him (collecting paintings has always been a passion of mine and I want to see how long it will actually take for me to fill up that exhibit.) Also, at the end of each day I also revert back to the original date/time because I don't want to experience any holidays early.

As for the negative aspects... I honestly can't think of any. I only Time Travel one day at a time and I never move on to the next day unless I have already removed all bad weeds from my town, watered all flowers, and spoken to all of my villagers/performed a few chores for them. So none of my favorite villagers have moved out and I've never lost my perfect town status (and I spend a lot of time using the wealthy town ordinance)

LOL "legitimate players"
I wonder how many of you "legitimate players" were the ones running around begging to use the time travellers' shampoodles, or buy from their stores, or go catch out of season bugs/insects, etc.

Everyone is a "legitimate player".

For those who do TT, it's your game. Do whatever you want with it. You don't need to justify why you TT. If you get any flack for it from anyone, don't play with those people.
Preach!

I use time traveling only as a method of "catching up" if I missed a day or something. I did go forward a day when I first started since it became night too fast and I wanted to do more, but those days are mostly behind me (lol, time pun).

The only thing I dislike about SOME time travelers (I mainly direct this to an online friend of mine) is they don't just time travel, they advocate it like a religion. I haven't noticed anyone on these boards doing it (yet), but let's say this guy ruined my view on forward time traveling.

"Oh you just got your dream suite? I've had it for weeks, you should have just TTed!"
"Hey I'll trade you [holiday item that hasn't naturally passed yet] for [different holiday item I have yet to gotten to]. What, you don't have any of the series? WTF?!"

No side should feel superior about how they play. Apparently on these forums (based on impression I am getting) there are more "naturalist" superiority problems than TT superiority.

I will say my opinion has been sullied a bit to where I feel uncomfortable wanting to trade with TTers (mainly for items that haven't occurred naturally for me yet). I still don't think it is necessarily wrong to play as you want, but feel people dig their own graves when a short time later, you hear people are suddenly bored cause they time traveled so much. (Not finger pointing or saying all end up like this, just a handful of people).

I also get disappointed when people forward time travel while I am not since I like the idea of people being on the same level as me (or roughly) so we can all experience the same thing together. That makes me NOT want to play with some friends (namely the one I mentioned above) since what can I offer to them that they can't just time travel for?

Changed the title; too many people are "irked" by it so I guess why not. Also I did not intend for this TT / non-TT war. ;_;

Also yes i agree that you can play this game any way you want.

I think time traveling takes the fun out of the game, at least for me. I don't see anything wrong with waiting. I occasionally backtrack to the previous day if I didn't have an opportunity to play, just so I don't have a buildup of weeds and I can get the shop items and fossils for that day. In WW I started a new town and then traveled to 2099. Just to see what it would be like. That's the only time I've ever TTed more than a day at a time.

OWNED x'D

OKAY!!! Anyone has Hero Turnic? I'll pay 100,000 bells :)

I personally don't time travel, but I trade with a lot of people who do. I find that it is very convenient to buy hybrids and such from tt-ers.

I never TT, I like it more when everything goes its own way,
I know this person who does TT, and I have a perfect town even before her.
but yeah, It will keep me playing~

Where are all these people who criticize TTers and express superiority? I mean, the overwhelming theme in this thread is "I don't care how others choose to play" and "I hate when non-TTers act superior over TTers." I just think it's weird how vehement people are getting about this when I hardly ever see anyone who is overly judgmental about TTers. In fact, it seems like it's almost gotten to the point where non-TTers are afraid to speak up about their views on time-travel without saying something like, "but I don't care if others do!" Both sides should be able to express their opinion and play the way they want.
