Time Travelers vs. Non-TT'ers - Better Playstyle?

When I first got the game & was unlocking everything, I did not TT. Now that I have everything unlocked and my main goal is getting the villagers I would like, I TT in order to get rid of the residents I don't want quicker to create space for them. I never TT more than 1 day at a time though, simply because I'm really paranoid about losing residents or messing up my game. D; Once I get all the residents I want I will stop TT'ing~. c: & I have absolutely nothing against people who TT for other things, like making the game progress quicker! I would hardly consider it an illegitimate way to play. Its your game. Play as you want. ^-^

LOL "legitimate players"
I wonder how many of you "legitimate players" were the ones running around begging to use the time travellers' shampoodles, or buy from their stores, or go catch out of season bugs/insects, etc.

Everyone is a "legitimate player".

For those who do TT, it's your game. Do whatever you want with it. You don't need to justify why you TT. If you get any flack for it from anyone, don't play with those people.

Not against those who time travel, I used to do it in the gamecube and wild world versions, but I definitely like having my animal crossing world match up with real life, time and date-wise. I still played the gamecube version for several years, but I only played wild world for a few months because I burned out on it so fast. I feel like even though a month has gone by since I started my town I could still play it for a very long time.

Yes, thank you! I don't really understand the whole disdain for TTers thing. It's just a game, meant for entertainment. Why are some people so concerned about how other people play?

This is what happened when I time traveled.

This morning, I spoke to Blather's in the Museum and finally got the option to build the cafe in London, I built it near a river and then later decided that it didn't look good and so I went to the Town Hall to cancel it...

Isabelle said that it would be cancelled by tomorrow and so I time traveled to the next day.
T&T Mart had posted an announcement on the Bulletin Board that they were closing tomorrow for renovation and I time traveled to tomorrow and then back to today and Super T&T were still renovating.

I time traveled back to tomorrow to check on them and they had done renovating on the day that they were supposed to have been closed, all thanks to my big mess up...

I would have continued normally from here on out as I could delete the bulletin board notifications, but I looked around on Google and it was only then from my research that I realised the Town Tree records the data too.

I time traveled once because I forgot to get my daily emote, I only time traveled 3 hours back though, other than that I have never and will never time travel, I did it in Wild World, and it quickly ruined the game for me, also in New Leaf there?s always something new to do, at least I don?t find myself getting bored :)

I TT quite often for entertainment and to get Bells more quickly. I did go for 2 weeks without TTing, so I guess I switch depending on the day and what's new.

I don't TT because I'm afraid I'll get bored too fast :/ Plus, I like waiting for stuff. The anticipation :3 <3

I totally agree with this.
I am a legitimate player, whether I time travel or not. I paid for my game therefore I'll play it how I want.

I TT'd from the release date day-by-day until last week to get everything I had unlocked in my last town, since I reset about a million times (Thank you to everyone who helped me, by the way!). Other than that, I've only time-travelled within the week to get emotes and to help out people who needed to buy turnips. In City Folk, I TT'd like there was no tomorrow and the game never got boring for me, so I just kept doing it.

In this game, yeah everything takes so long to unlock, so I completely understand TT'ing. Everyone is going to get the shop upgrades and whatever at SOME point, so it's not "cheating" or "illegitimate", it's speeding up the process. What REALLY annoys me though, like most other people that posted here, is when non-TT'ers act like they're superior to players who are. Get off your high horse. You're not better than anyone just because you don't change the date on a freaking game. It's also irritating when people refuse to play with TT'ers. It doesn't affect you, so why do you care so much? It's not like they're going to take control of your game and override it and force you to time-travel. Are you paranoid or something?

As for the title of the thread, I also don't like it. Everyone is a legitimate player just because they play the game. Who cares how you play it? It's YOUR game, you play it by YOUR rules. Nobody else's opinion should matter. Honestly, I'm sick of these threads. No-one is going to change the way they think about this subject. So just leave it.

I used to TT in previous games, but I really wanted to play New Leaf without doing so. I did once to give someone a villager who was moving out from my town on a day I would be out of town in real life, and because of that I got Shampoodle earlier since it was being built on the day I TTed and they finished it by the day I TTed to. Right after that, I TTed back to the day it actually was, and I avoided looking in the shops and stuff.

I don't TT otherwise because I think it's better that way, but I will admit the game is a little very slow-paced. I don't have anything against TTers, either. It's their game.

i ttd a month back cause i was bedridden for like a week and had nothing to do but ac

THANK YOU! I'm getting a bit irked with people saying that TT'ing "ruins the game" and that "you're cheating". It doesn't do either, and all of its effects can be re-done. I TT a lot because it would take a month and a half to get everything I have now, and during the summer, I don't always have that kind of time. During the school year, even less time. So to be frankly honest, I TT for these reasons alone. If you don't like it, keep it to yourself. It's my thing, not yours. I don't care if you hate it. I'm not making you do it!

But seriously, I agree with this completely. I don't time travel in large amounts. In fact, I time travel forward a day or two whenever I'm expecting an order from my catalogue or if I've completed all the tasks that I wanted to complete on that day. I still make sure to talk to all of my villagers so that they don't move out and water my flowers so they don't wilt. Personally, I prefer to play the game as a time traveller, but I still respect the opinion of those who prefer to play it at its intended pace. I've played all my Animal Crossing games since the Gamecube as a time traveller and I don't plan on changing my play style just because someone doesn't like it. You don't know me! You don't know what I've been through! D:
(FYI, that last bit was for dramatic effect. Just in case anyone decides to be sensitive.)

i don't, but if i ever miss an event due to work, i will.
i think you should be able to play however you want. i don't understand what people have against time travelers. who cares if you are patient enough to wait a day or two for something to happen in the game. it doesn't make you a better gamer or person.

I hate waiting a day for a lot of things, but I don't like TTing. I just wait it out, and as my dad says to me (a lot), anything is more enjoyable when you wait for them. I think I enjoy say new shops more when I wait, and plus it gives you something to be excited for the next day. :D

I have absolutely nothing against TTers. My mom loves to time travel and will even go back to like 1993 and play lol.

I personally don't play by TTing. I even recently resetted my whole town (had a ton of bugs, fish, fossils donated. Opened dream suite, club LOL and shampoodles) I reset and put the date back to June then TT'd my way through to get back to where I was. Once I TT'd I felt "disconnected" from my town, villagers and the game. I took a few days off from playing.

Last night I realized I wasn't interested in playing so I reset again. I decided to just start all over and I once again have the desire to play.

Not TTing is just a personal preference.

Lol, thanks. But really, it's not fair how people react to time traveling. If it was ruining the pace of the game and cheating, then why would Nintendo allow you to the change the time at all? People just have their personal preference. I enjoy TTing. It's fun, it doesn't ruin MY pace of the game and people should just think before they post. If you don't like it, then don't say anything. You can go find people who don't TT. Problem solved.
