I personally don't time travel; however, some of my friends do and they get stuff like Shampoodle earlier than me. I also don't enjoy the fact that time travelling can result to a loss of a random villager, and a lot of my villagers are pretty awesome and I don't want to part with most of them (most TTers I know don't TT that far in the game, however). Time travelers do have the ability to unlock certain aspects of the game earlier than most "natural players", but I believe I may find myself guilty of playing the game illegitimately if i do suspect myself TT'ing. Nothing personal against the Time Travelers though. :3

Thoughts anybody? Are you a TTer or follow the game naturally? Would you want to do the opposite of what you normally do?

I have a copy of the game just for TTing, and a physical copy that is done entirely legit. To be honest my one goal on this game is just so simple: catalogue items, keep a set the limited event ones in my closet, and other goals you can't really control (Wanting a certain villager in your town out of the list of hundreds) and what not. It hasn't really ruined it for me, since there are equal amounts of things to do in my legit copy too and that would be the town I make all nice, care more about clothes, etc. AC to me is kinda like Sims games, I like to customize and the more you are able to customize the better! I am on this game mainly for the aspect of designing.

I kind of see TTing to get event items sort of like trading/buying international DLCs. You actually can't get it in the game yet (or ever) but you somehow wound up with them in your pockets anyway :P

Because I reset a lot, I started my game like a week in the past and TT forward till I caught up. I personally am not a TTer though. I also found myself getting really burned out playing several days at a time and would often forget if I had gotten my money rock or what was selling for premium at Re-Tail. I feel bad for TT and wouldn't want anything to happen to my town or villagers ;)

I time traveled once recently. OTL It was to order and receive and item for trade since the person wasn't going to be available for long. First time I ever TT'd and hated it rofl. Up until then I had been playing real life ('course I switched back to real time afterwards).

When I first got the game I was tempted because I wanted all the shops but decided against it. It was fun unlocking and waiting for the shops. c:

I've gone backwards a day twice: on both occasions I'd been unable to play the day before. I haven't altered the clock for any other reason than to catch up on a day I couldn't play. :)

I got bored with WW quite quickly because I TT'd a lot, so I'm happier to take NL at a more leisurely pace.

Depends on what aspects you enjoy in the game. If you love collecting bugs, fish, etc then time travel is your friend. If you enjoy actually having events to do then time travelling is your friend.

Not time travelling severely limits what you can even do in this game which has been seen as the worst in terms of having to wait for nearly everything. If I'm not mistaken it takes 2~3months of regular play before you unlock everything shop-wise, and some badges are not even on your radar without TT'ing; e.g. Weed badges needing 5000 weeds to fully complete. Do the math and see for yourself how many years that would take you to get even if you played every single day and had a generous 2 weeds per day.

If you happen to 100% your fish and bug catalogs outside of the right months you would have to wait months before you could get your golden tool rewards. If your schedule is too strict then you'd have to TT just to complete your collection in general.

I time travelled like crazy to get all my villagers to move out so I could replace them with ones I actually enjoy talking to. I also time travel occasionally for little things like receiving catalog orders faster and keeping retail open when I'm playing late at night.

When I first got the game I was against TTing because I thought it would ruin the game for me, but now I feel that its alright as long as you have proper self control. Constant TTing for instant gratification on everything would certainly make the game grow stale very fast.

I only Time travel when I literally have nothing else to do, for example I like to play during the night alot but unfortunately everything is closed during the night time..so therefore I'll time travel to 10am the next day and start playing I always make sure too set the time back to normal..I don't consider myself a cheater considering how I don't use this too gain extra money or anything I just like too play during the night lol

Good for you but my sister won't listen she time travel like WTF and so I hide my 3DS somewhere x'D

I never time TT and never will but i get so annoyed when people act superior for being natural players. People can play their game how they want to, its not going to affect me, and if they get things before me, so be it, i dont mind it just makes it more worthwhile when i eventually do :)

I honestly don't care how people play their own games.
I TT'd in previous games but I haven't in NL - yet. I may for grass if it gets a lot worse.

Prech it! That's basically what I'm sayin' totally agree with just about everyone who posted couldn't agree more.

I haven't TT'd yet and I don't plan to, unless it's Sunday and I'm late for Joan. I want to take it easy and be excited when new things roll around, whether that's a new villager, shop, PWP or an event.
But I harbour no ill will towards those who do TT, for whatever reason. It's your game and you can play it the way you want. I did "cheat" in city folk, though. I didn't TT much, but I did hack my console... That was basically just so I could organize my town exactly how I wanted to and get DLCs from other regions. That's not to say that I didn't fall in the get-all-the-things trap

Im doing the same thing. And the thing is, I dont feel Im missing out on any experiences. Usually what I do is play normally when I first start playing then when Ive done everything I wanted to do, I'll start TTing to get villagers out. I've had a successful past week too. At the moment I have 7/10 dream villagers. I would probably have 9/10 but I play with my cousin alot and she keeps sending me villagers I dont want. And I've only been TTing back and forth within the current month so I havent experienced anything earlier than I should.

The only thing that sucks about TTing IMO is that my tree grew really fast.

I hate your title so much. You are allowed to play this game however you want. Just because you go along with time naturally does not make you a "legitimate player". Even if you TT you can still be a "legitimate player". That just really irks me.

Personally my favorite part of the game is designing the dream town, so yeah I TT like mad. xD I just do it a day at a time so I can catch villagers before they move out, check the shops, etc.

I hadn't planned on TT'ing, but now I want my town to look a certain way before I turn 72, so whatevs. :P

For me, a big part of the charm of the game is the pace of it. Time Traveling would ruin that experience for me. If it takes me twenty weeks to get Katrina to open her shop on Main Street because I can visit her only once a week and she requires twenty visists before she opens shop, then so be it. If I stay on the island beetle harvesting too long and find that Re-Tail is closed by the time I get back, I just have to wait until tomorrow morning. I like that it's July and come December there will still be new things to see in the game. My only worry is that Pokemon X & Y comes out in October. The main-series Pokemon games are like crack to me. I don't know if I'll have time for Animal Crossing. Knowing that there's new stuff to encounter (and villagers I don't want to lose) will certainly give at lease some incentive to pick up the game in the fall and winter. If I TT'd, I could be done with the year by the end of summer and I don't want to do that.

Oh, and I absolutely agree that not time traveling doesn't make your game play more legitimate. It's just a different playing style from the one I choose.
