Yah, sorry if I came off as mean or rude! In retrospect I think I might'veYeah. The only way to prevent spoilers 100% is just to stay off the internet. I just got used to Bell Tree being really good about using the spoiler tag, so when I found that out I was just a bit surprised. And sometimes, I do spoil myself on purpose, but I do like having the option to choose (personally speaking). That's why I've decided to stay off of social media when the next update comes out and I was wondering if anyone else was planning on also changing up their playstyle. Mostly because I don't think a non-spoiler chat thread could compete with a free "what have you found out about _____ update?" type of thread.![]()
And, for what it's worth, I also agree- spoilers should be optional, but unfortunately, there are always people who are going to spoil things on purpose or unintentionally. I definitely have times where I don't want spoilers for some things, but I do for others. Like in a lot of video games I often want an IDEA of what's going to happen... but not the exact dialogue. That way, I'm prepared for any big surprises (for instance, whenever a new update comes for GW2, I always look up the synopsis to prepare myself emotionally for any big reveals, lol) but it still feels special to ACTUALLY experience it myself. Like, I have a general idea of how Halloween will go... BUT I'm also looking forward to actually experiencing it with my villagers, on my island, seeing exactly what everyone has to say and exactly how all the fun will play out! I think part of it for me, too, is that I don't think of holidays as a one time thing. I've always loved to try and experience holidays as a season- so I TT back and forth throughout that season and I don't generally get bored. If I do, I just move on to another video game for a bit... or, you know, get some work done... which I technically should be doing now... I also enjoy TTing because, at least when I was a kid, there were days when I'd feel sad or whatever... and I just wanted a little bit of Halloween in May, or Christmas in April, or whatever to cheer myself up. Heck, in CF I made most of my money TTing to holidays and selling the furniture- it was kind of repetitive, my town was almost always a mess, and I'd pretty much never play holidays when they were actually happening IRL, but I had a blast! Animal Crossing games are definitely great because you can play how you wanna play... but it's also fun to connect with people who like to play how you play.
And that's what I was trying to figure out how to put into words before
