So I noticed that when somebody asks to move out, although they say they’ll pack up the next day, if you TT or if you just don’t play for more than one day, they actually won’t be in boxes until the next day you /load up the game/. It’s not the next day, but the next day you play.

I was wondering if anybody knew if the same applies for villagers moving /in/. It seems like once you have an empty plot, it will get ‘sold’ automatically in somewhere between 1-3 days. But is that 1-3 days which elapse altogether, or 1-3 that you play /load up the game?

What I’m asking is, if I’ve got somebody in boxes right now, and I TT one month, will their empty plot have been filled already or not? Does anybody know?

Thanks!!

In my experience, when someone has moved out and I've TT'd even 6 months in advance, the plots never filled. They can fill with an immediate 6 month jump, of course, as the game appears to treat any length of time jump from the very day a villager moves in (but is still in boxes) to your next time booting up the game as one day.

The same holds true for when a villager says they're moving out "tomorrow." Tomorrow is simply the next time you boot up the game. You can TT 20 years forward from the day they ask to move, and when you open the game they'll still be packed up in boxes.
