Hello! I have a question about time travel. I never time travel, but a few trades for villagers I really want are all cropping up around the same time, so it seems I might have to. What I'm wondering is this: is there any way to TT where there is no risk of losing my villagers whatsoever, or is there always some risk involved?

I've read a bunch of different methods of time travelling to move out villagers and such, but it's usually something along the lines of, "talk to each villager each day so that they won't move, but they might anyways".

I really want to TT just this once because I have a few people willing to trade me my dream villagers and I don't want to make people wait like weeks, but I'm really nervous about losing my villagers.

Anyone have any experience with this? I'll only be time travelling to move out one or two villagers.

Also, once you time travel (however far into the future that may be), can you go back in time to the actual date with no repercussions, or will that mess things up as well?

Thanks!

I always TT one day at a time to avoid losing villagers. TTing backwards does not effect villagers moving. I've never lost villagers that way.

Alright.
I use this and so has my friend, and it's worked for both of us.

On day 1, talk to all the villagers you want to keep.
Go to day 2, and talk to all the villagers you want to keep again.
Go to day 3, talk to all the villagers you want to keep.
Then go back to day 1 and one of the villagers who you didn't talk to should ping and ask to move out.

If this doesn't work, let me know because I don't want to give advice that ends up being wrong. I've told this to a bunch of people and never got any response... :/ (I've adjusted this a little..)

The risk involved is eliminated by being extremely careful. Villagers will either ping to tell you they're moving, or they'll "tell" another villager (at least 1, often more) who will tip you off in standard conversation. Talk to 2 villagers who are outside on each day 8-10 times and you practically eliminate any risk of a sneak-out; talk to all 5, and it's even moreso guaranteed. Save and quit and come back on to switch who's outside until you've spoken with everyone but the ones you want to boot, and it's all but impossible for someone else to leave - but I've never had any accidents just talking to 1-2 villagers each day, personally.

Quick question about this. I've heard about having one villager that you talk to a lot as an "informer" about others moving. If they do tell me that so-and-so is moving and I don't want that villager to move, then can I stop it or is it too late?

And thank you everyone for all of the replies. c:

Yeah; walk up to the villager who wants to move, see if they ping, and if not, enter a building, exit, and repeat. Eventually, they'll ping and will ask to move. Also, talking to villagers every now and then who you're trying to ping does seem to help a bit.

^ Oh okay, thanks. I'm still going to attempt to work it all out without time travelling, but if I have to I'll use this method and it sounds like it shouldn't be too difficult. c: Thanks everyone!

Go a day at a time, talk to everyone you want to stay, on about the 4th day someone should ask to leave, if it is one you want out GREAT! If not TT 4 days into the future and someone else should tell you they are leaving.

Note: Before going to each day, pick one of the villagers you want to keep and talk to them about 10 times, if someone is moving and just hasn't told you yet, your other villagers should mention it to you :)

One you have completed your trade, greet the villager on the day they move in and make one big jump straight back to the current date ;)

Good luck!
