Thoughts on time travelling

I used to TT like crazy on my other AC games, but after I lost Chow by TTing in Wild World, I vowed to never do it again (but we'll see how long I can last in New Leaf). Animal Crossing is one of those games where there's a bunch of ways to play, and I think that TTing is one of them. It's pretty wrong of your friends to try and pressure you into traveling if you don't want to, though.

I've considered TTing lately, because 1. to do holidays/events I might be to busy IRL to do and 2. to get an extra challenge and try the game in a new way. The planning it takes to TT takes a completely different strategy to the game. TTing too much and right away in the game would burn you out I imagine, but as it is I'm burning out not TTing. Seriously, I don't think I have ever played a game this much (every single day since August 15th!)

I get how haivng TTing forced upon you could be annoying, but what about cyclers?
How many of you have gotten free villagers from one of us that we could have sold off for a ridiculous amount of money?

We, (or at least I did) pay a lot of irl money to get another copy of the game simply for the benefit of other people. I would think anybody who called cycling cheating or who had a go at people who do free cycling towns is just being really rude tbh. *just saying*

I've never cycled or gotten a villager from someone at all but I definitely agree. I've seen a lot of people on different forums call all TT'ers cheaters and it's just super disrespectful IMO.

And to be honest, who cares if people are for or against TTing?
We payed for these games, we can use them however we choose.

Although, I decided to buy a second copy to prevent people from paying so much for villagers, not at all for my own gain.

As a TTer, I fully respect the reasoning behind those who would rather not TT, but I don't call people out for not TTing. That's like calling someone out for liking caramel over chocolate: the thinking is irrational, and it's just their preference. Those who are pressuring you should stick to the way they want to play. That's why all of the maps are different; no two files are ever the same. I'm not going to persuade you to TT, and your not missing out on much.

I don't TT at all.
I recently went through a resetting thing and I TT'd at the beginning of my current town to get my development permit and the basics. Otherwise I never ever TT.
I TT'd back in Wild World and it absolutely ruined the game for me.

I can see how people might like TTing as they can see their village grow quicker or might not always have a lot of time to play or even in a cycling town, but it's just not for me.

I'll be getting a second copy for Christmas. It'll be used for helping others by announcing good retail or turnip sales, making black to gold flowers and all kinds of things that would seriously screw up my own game.

I don't appreciate being painted with this brush that you have that ALL tt'ers will go through several events in one day just to get rare items. I honestly don't know anyone that does that but I'm sure there's someone out there?

Anyways, I TT so that the game does not disrupt RL which is rather important. :)

Like when I can only play at night because I'm studying during the day.
Or had to TT on Thanksgiving. Instead of continuing to spend three freaking hours trying to trade fish for fruit and all that garbage (OMG it really did take forever to finish ;_; ), I spent several hours with my family instead. The game could come later and the event would still be there as long as I did a little bit of TT. There was no stress to run to a game because the event was ending.
The stores in the game don't open until I'm well on my way to campus and they're closed after I get out.
The list goes on.

I get the idea of not time traveling but its too inconvenient for me and my schedule. It's still just a game and needs to be viewed as such: Something you do with your free time. I don't believe that games should dictate when you play them because then that just sets up addictive behavior.

Lately, a lot of my friends have been trying to force me into time travelling in New Leaf to make my town how I want it faster. This is slightly starting to annoy me.

I get the feeling that time travelling itself isn't the real problem here. It's being told by friends how you should play your own game.

Time travelling should be a no-discussion-allowed topic just like politics. You can be for or against, but it says nothing about you being wrong or right.

I would definitely be annoyed if someone was trying to FORCE me to TT if I don't want to. I personally am for TTing, just to finish PWP's and TT villagers out. The fun in the game isn't taken away if you TT, though. There are people who find satisfaction in TTing. It just depends on the person.

I time traveled on my Animal Crossing town on the Gamecube.
It just didn't feel right to me. I ended up starting fresh with a new town.

Why this is still a topic of debate? Let people play how they want. I don't know how your friends can "force" you to TT.

Forcing a friend to do something isn't good in any sense. I personally TT just to get villagers I want out of my village/free up space for dreamies, but don't plan on TTing so viciously forever. I do always go back to the date it actually is when I can :D

Hey man, there's nothing wrong with TT, I did it when I was younger, but I tend to just go with the flow now. Taking AC at a slow pace is super relaxing.

I don't see anything wrong with it. People can play their games how they want, I never understood why other ppl got so uppity about it ._. who cares?? it doesn't affect you anyways.

personally I only time travelled when I had to get a villager out to adopt another one, and when Gracie came bc I didn't want to wait months and months for her to show up again lol

It's your game. Do what you want and don't let your friends pressure you into time traveling...or let anyone push you into NOT time traveling. I used to time travel like crazy on my second copy but that was to cycle out villagers for other people :) I don't time travel on my main because I like for it to be in sync with real life.

I don't mind TT either. But I won't do it by myself - I'm afraid of destroying my 3ds-statistics lel.

I don't mind TT'ing ^^; Like xxLollyxx said, it's your game, you play how you want to. If it wasn't designed for TT'ing, why is there an option to change date. To just go back on the holiday you missed? Then you just TT'd.

I usually TT for PWP completion or villager moving date (so if I'm trading, I can get rid of them quicker).

I don't TT. Except if I haven't played one day (or forget to take my 3DS home when I commute back for the weekend, I've done that...), I'll go back to water my flowers and then return to the correct day, but I never go ahead of the day it is irl.

But people do TT and that's their choice, I would hate it being forced on me. I get that sometimes: "Why don't you just TT if you want to do that/grow this/see what that's like/play that festival?", well I don't want to, leave me be!!
